Laid off 12.21.17

Been at the company five years. Started out entry level out of college and worked into mid Management. Was called in today, and laid off due to "elimination of job position". My position was being absorbed / distributed to other employees and was made aware that i was being let go in lieu of reassignment. My salary is being put toward a Managment position they are hiring next week. notice or warning.

Same thing happened to me.
Been sending out 20-30 applications a day for the last six months. No bites and 20-25, 5-6 hour interviews with no offers.
It sucks.

yeah, my wife's company had a layoff and just so happened all of management got huge year end bonuses etc. had like 3 middle managers for a department of 4. it was sick.

Damn man, that sucks. Happened to me about 10 years ago> Went to work before the Thanksgiving Holiday, everyone brought food and had a good time. Getting ready to leave for the day and they tell me to go see the boss.

Ok, this should not be happening. Are you applying outside your city/State? You MUST be willing to move in today’s market. Also, have you looked at staffing agencies? Not sure what Your skill set is, but they are motivated to place you if you re even somewhat marketable.

Can’t move, significant other is planted down here in DFW. I’ve been applying everywhere in the metroplex though.
