He and the wife love it there. His second purchase after snow tires after moving there - a snow blower. However, they do love them some Mike Leach.

Call up Robert Half in Dallas. They will get you somewhere for sure, even if it is temp work. It will pay your bills.

I was laid off twice in a span of 1 year from 2 different oil industry jobs. Been there, done that.
Like my brother says, "frick it, I was looking for a job when I found this one."

OP, is there not a single opening they're willing to place you in? Even if it's a lower pay grade? I've seen supervisor positions elimited but they kept a job by accepting a lesser role.

There are two sides to every story. Maybe OP was shite at his job.
Additionally, due to his work, it was some type of admin function if it's being absorbed by all others/shifted to management.
Dude's writing etiquette here shows that there were clearly some issues though. Although this will come across like I'm a dick, and we all want to support each other here, some people just aren't good at/made for the work they are doing.

Dude there's probably a bunch of companies hiring. Just start with all of your former company's competitors. There are dozens of consulting firms in Houston.

Man that’s brutal. Praying you get something soon bro. Keep your head up and refrain from torching the building, although no one would blame you.
You will bounce back. I got laid off myself almost eight years ago after being on the job right at 20yrs. Learned real quick that there were few jobs out there for Ph.D.s and even fewer if you were 50 or older. Increased my adjunct teaching load to take care of finances. Was about to take a shot at starting my own consulting gig when I got hired back. Went back in with seniority, benefits, and retirement. Assholes who laid me off were all fired about three months after they nailed me. Now I get to retire in about 18 mos and can then work if I want to but not because I have to. The consult gig is still tempting, but at least there will be a steady retirement check coming in while starting up or if things go south.
Hang in there. Getting let go from you job is bad enough. The timing really sucks.

Go intern/entry level it at 1310 The Ticket. That will be major networking for you to open up some doors.
Not sure if this guy was serious, but it would be cool as shite to work there.

OP here. Thanks to those offering kind words.
I was not incompetent at my job. I was simply told it was due to downsizing the department.
I have filed for unemployment and plan to hit the ground running Jan 2nd.

Emails sent. It’s a chemical maintenance company. I’m not telling the whole OT where I work.

I've been laid off twice already in 2017. Was happy each time.

Happened to me 15 years ago. I found a better job. Hang in there, keep working.

Hell,I'll probably get laid off two or three times this year coming.
Working sucks. I like my free time. My last lay off was Sept 24, and I'm not looking to go back to work until mid-January at the earliest.
I could get a job tomorrow, but screw that.
