I know a lot of folks are gonna say all the trades, but the one I don’t hear anyone talking about is being a brick mason. Laying brick is a shite ton of work. It’s hard, always in the weather, and no one does it. But it seems like to me if a fella really got good at it he’d have all the work he could stand.

What yall got?

Any type of entrepreneurship, honestly. Nobody's getting rich by working for someone else.

Well right now the quickest route to big money is as an electrician or really any trade working on data centers. The electricians doing that work are clearing $200-250k per year.

We pay $50/hr for bricklayers in the plant, but they are laying some intricate shite. Domes, cylinders connecting into each other, cones. They are very precise, 1/8" mortar joints. This is all inside vessels. They sometimes do outside work when it slows down. Outdoor kitchens and fireplaces.

I’m what Dave Ramsey refers to as an every day millionaire via my 401k and pension. I started out with nothing and passed that mark at 43. I couldn’t have done that without working for the man.

But I plan to get into some entrepreneurship. I just couldn’t do it on debt when I was a young man.

I've met about a dozen people over the years who were flat broke after working for themselves. Some were poor money mangers, some were lazy, and some just had piss poor decision making skills. Plenty of entrepreneurs fail. And lots of people I've met were pretty damn wealthy from being just an employee.
All depends on the individual.

You ever notice how the "smash the patriarchy/equity at all costs" folks never bitch about women not having 50% of brick mason jobs in America? They always seem to want to cherry pick the jobs where they want and expect equal representation.

People making less than the max allowed to contribute (I think it was $135k) should be piling money into a Roth IRA for as long as they can.

I been making bank on it. I just post security cam vids of me mowing grass shirtless and my bare feet using a shovel. 5 minutes of effort posting and I'm making $3.50 per month. That's $42 per hour.

The true brick masons are probably in their 50's or 60's now or older.

You have guys laying brick, but that does not make them brick masons.

There is a huge difference in the trades.

Owning a commercial electrician or plumbing outfit is quite different than Joe six pack who unclogs your toilet. And it’s often who you know to get in the commercial game.
