Some thing something road to something something hell something something good intentions.
Another example of the government having good intentions, but fricking shite up is with CEO pay.
Government required companies disclose their CEO pay. Good idea, right? NOPE. All that did is let CEOs see what other CEOs made and the following conversation happened:
CEO of Lowe's: Home Depot just disclosed their CEO makes $3M more than me, I want a pay increase.
CEO of Home Depot: I just saw that Lowe's CEO got a pay bump, we had more sales than Lowe's last year, I want a pay increase.
And on.
And on.
So instead of shaming CEO pay, the government INCREASED CEO pay.
And we are going to let this organization take over healthcare?

I don't think ya'll understand how this works. The legislature can't modify the order to say open on May 1st. They can just end the order completely. A complete end to the order would probably do what the governor says.
They wouldn’t be in this situation if JBE had been transparent and honest.
They’re calling the Governor’s bluff.

Say what yall want about Jindal, but he never governed by threats and fear mongering

What would be the point of reopening schools?
They’re past the point of no return there.

@LouisianaGov executive counsel sends a letter to GOP legislative leaders saying if an effort to rescind the gov's order goes forward, Louisiana would in effect reopen schools, cancel federal aid, etc.
Is this the same group that told Edwards to tell everyone LSU football would be canceled in 2016?

Where's Blake Miguez and Sharon Hewitt? What are they afraid of?
Great people. But it's much easier to play arm chair quarterback. The legislature was in session when this all started and immediately adjourned.

Good
They should be open
They should be open

In all fairness, the LA Governor has nearly unprecedented power with line item vote authority and the ability to control many boards and commissions that can control important decisions affecting various areas. He he has no hesitation about wielding that stick, he is a real despot, and now that he isn’t worried about running again, the gloves are really off

Yeah, I don’t see anything wrong with opening schools. Especially knowing how little this affects kids and young adults. They’re not in danger and they’re really bad at spreading it anyway. I know it’s just a couple weeks. But I’d love for my kid to see his friends again before the summer.

I dunno, maybe make them actually earn what we are paying them?

I think the issue is the Leg wants to cancel the executive order declaring an emergency. There would be no phase 1,2 or 3. It would all just open.
So just issue an order that is consistent with phase 1. If JBE cancelled the SAH order and enacted another order that is consistent with the phase 1 guidelines, the legislature wouldn't overturn it.

He can’t issue any order if the petition goes through for a certain number of days.

Can you imagine if John Alario was still running the Senate, he'd be pushing to keep the state shut until fricking 2022.
oh god, could you imagine if that crook got his hands on the federal money that JBE is salivating over.

Nope. Thankfully I still have mine but my boss and several other people in my company we’re summarily fired last week and once people come off furloughs in May, I suspect a lot of them will be too

Elections have consequences. It kills me how many people will be fooled and vote for a Democrat saying they're not like the national Democrats. Hello? They may lie and act all Conservative old school Democrat to win the election, but under all that you will find a closet Socialist hell bent on keeping power.
Jindal may not have been the best, but at least with a Republican, you get a chance at freedom and smaller govt. I know it's hard to beat DEMS at their cheating, but you can see what happens when they can get their way
Our governor isn't the best but I'm so glad he bucked the system and has started opening things up.

I think he's saying schools would re-open because teachers are currently being paid via federal funds, and they wouldn't be getting paid without those funds if they aren't working.
