John Wayne essentially played John Wayne in every movie he was in. Now, he was able to translate that into a lot of watchable movies.
I’ve seen Queen Latifa in a few movies that were good where she essentially played herself. Same with Seth Rogen, Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Paul Rudd, Mark Wahlberg, and a whole host of others. Ice T is the same guy on Law & Order SUV as he was in Surviving the Game and Ricochet..Ice T. Some adapt to More types of stories better than others. Some can carry the story where as some are better in a small supporting role.
As for Snoop…I can think of another Outlaw that is still with us who likes to smoke a little weed but is loved by the mainstream public…he’s this generations Willie Nelson.

I love her...but nobody in music has marketed themselves as well as Dolly Parton. If you say anything bad about Dolly in most of the Southeast you'll get punched in the throat, she is so loved.

Dude has literally done seemingly everything. Started off as a Gangbanging Crip turned Gangster rapper in the 90s. From that, he went 100% commercialized. He's made a reggae album, a gospel album. His cooking show with Martha Stewart. He was hosting his own game show for a little bit. He hosted a show during the Olympics this year. He created a football league for kids in his area. He had a reality show produced about his family. Later had another reality show about his son's football career.
He has acted in numerous movies/shows. But 98% of the time he is literally just playing himself. He's been on WWE.
Dude has even made songs with KPOP and Bollywood artists, knowing he cant understand a word they said.

Not to mention the businesses he is a part of. He is a big investor on Triller which is a streaming app for boxing, he has a marijuana company (that I think he and Willie Nelson owns. If not anymore they used to own it together at one time and is actually good friends with Willie)

I see someone listed Shaq and Shaq does market himself well, but Snoop was able to move into the mainstream and stay relevant enough that his name bring value to business.
Snoop might do the same, but what Shaq does that is smart is.. He doesn't just represent any company that calls and is willing to pay him money to do commercials. When he agrees to represent a product, he becomes an owner of that company (so all of the commercials he is in, he owns a lot of shares of their stock).
But as for as Snoop, love or hate the guy, but you can't deny he is a pretty smart business person.
