But I did, and my God I'm glad I did. You don't really see how bad a shithole LA is until you spend some time away from it. Y'all are desensitized to how polluted, corrupt, and impoverished the state is. Louisianians are the nicest, most fun loving people on the planet.
this. i came back to be close to family for awhile. im ready to gtfo again.

Not to mention the thousands of people wearing football and basketball jerseys as daily wear. How is that not also "dress up"?
I'll give a pass to the baws wearing PFG shirts as daily wear because it's just too goddamn hot and humid down here and those shirts are super comfortable. But don't wear them to church or other more dressy occasions.

i dont really hate texas like it might look. it's fine and i had a good time living there. i just have to push back against this "everything is better in texas and why would anyone still live in louisiana" trope

I have known quite a few in the Houston area who talk about their ranch. This almost always means under 100 acres with a pond and a small house. They would always say, "I'm going to my Raannch, in a long drawn out pronunciation, for the weekend."
Next door neighbor in Memorial had a "ranch" which he flew to, but wasn't much larger than the landing strip for his single engine plane.

Texas is a great state but the climate/terrain has never been very appealing to me.
I like it in small doses, but this is my biggest obstacle to a potential move (wife is from TX). Coming from Atlanta, especially the northern side, Texas feels barren and scorched. It provides a ton of advantages - don't get me wrong - but the climate and topography are hard to get past.

Back in the days of Holiday travel being on Highway 90 (pre I-10) the highway was like Houston rush hour traffic though never about 40 MPH, from Houston to at least Lafayette. All was eastbound before and westbound after.
To be sure, the migration from Louisiana to Texas was due job opportunities in Texas and not in Louisiana, even 100 years ago. The ghost of Huey P. Long still lives in government across the state, though not as powerful as it once was.
I don't know about hunting and fishing, unless you are a bass fisherman. You can hunt those German Shepherd sized West Texas deer for the rack though.

I can attest to this. I’m a Louisiana man in Texas.

I know one person like this...and she's fricking insufferable. Can't go to a single bar or restaurant without hearing about a better version in Texas...funny thing is her arse settled in frickin Alexandria

Congrats on the move and promotion/better opportunity. Hope they’re paying you a ton to be there.

Encountered a lot of Texans while in the Marines, and the answer is no because the majority were like this

"Hey what's the word on those TPS reports?"
"Well in Texas..
Add into the fact that most of them were Cowboys fans and you had a perfect storm of pretentious assholes

Texas is worse. I’ve never seen a single person in MA running around with the state flag plastered all over their house or car or person. No one here has throw pillows and coffee mugs with “Don’t Mess With Massachusetts”.
Texans’ obsession with their home state is unrivaled.

Have you met any Southies (Bostonians)? They might have different ways of showing their pride in where they live, but they’re far more annoying.
