I like renting a car on trips.... Saves the local activists from giving me a dissertation on their politics after seeing a Texas license plate.

I was born and raised in LA. Thought I'd never leave.

But I did, and my God I'm glad I did. You don't really see how bad a shithole LA is until you spend some time away from it. Y'all are desensitized to how polluted, corrupt, and impoverished the state is. Louisianians are the nicest, most fun loving people on the planet.

To a fault. Y'all put up with WAY too much shite from your politicians and "cultures".

Texas is better in every respect. Sorry, but it's just true. And what Louisiana does better, Texas has adopted. The food here is just as good, the hunting and fishing better.

I love going home to LA to visit, but even happier when I leave.

I'm proud to have my Cajun heritage, but glad I got out of there.

A simple I like it here better would suffice.

It's a great job market obviously and way better than LA but I don't think it would be in my top 10 either.

bad weather
outdoors/scenery is pretty bad in the San Antonio-DFW-Houston triangle (where everyone lives)
corporate culture
adopting california politics at a rapid pace

I've lived in 11 states. My favorite people are:

Alaskans
Cajuns
Texans

So yes, most states have worse natives than Texas. Nearly all of them.

I’ve spent over a decade in Texas and met few natives.

Most of them are harmless, but annoying. My favorites are the old pseudo-debutantes who use phrases such as “oh, you poooooor thaaaaannngggg”

love all the texans who act like they're gunslingin ranch owning texans, but have spent their entire lives in a suburb of houston or dallas

the people who own less than an acre of land but wear boots and flannel everyday

It's really like they are doing a socially acceptable form of larping.

Guys wearing cowboy boots and hats who don't ride horses or herd cattle are playing dress up. But we don't intutively recognize them as being as ridiculous as someone wearing an astronauts suit to a baseball game

Same thing as people wearing basketball shoes when they aren't exercising or playing sports.
