To be fair adolescent girls were also routinely married off to older men at age 11-12 and expected to become pregnant at not much older. At least the males don’t have to get pregnant and then give birth which had a 50% chance of killing them

That is not true. That is a lie. There was no need to do that because the dead bodies already had other holes that were there already that they could use.

Probably everyone in this thread has a grandfather. Ggrandfather or at least a GGgrandfather that married his wife at 11 or 12. It was a simple biological mandate. They needed lots of kids, women's childbearing years were short, you had to have 3-5 live births to get two that made it to adulthood.
There are things we do today with general societal acceptance that will be considered abhorrent in 100 or 200 years.

Definitely. The concept of an adolescent or “teen” really didn’t exist for most of human history. In Europe during the Middle Ages was common that shortly after a girl hit puberty, it wasn’t too long until she was married off, commonly to an older man because it was older men who already had established farms and could take care of her. In return, she was expected to give him as many kids as possible.
If she wasn’t marred by the time she hit her early 20s, she was considered an “old maid.”
If you look at the Middle East during the same time, most brides were around 15 or 16.
One caveat to this is that in both Europe and the Middle East it was common for 12 years old to be the minimum age for girls to marry.
