Welp. Looks like I'm getting $3k.
I also paid more than $3k in taxes, so I'll consider this a tax credit.

Yeah family of 4 about to be 5. Combined we are over the limit. Wife is less than the 75k but I doubt that's how it works.
I could have paid off student loans, thanks for nothing.
Paid 9k in taxes last year too
ETA: Can we do this after deductions?

Well I hope this is the case. We made 149,600 last year together. By the skin of our teeth. There’s going to be lots of pissed off people who made just a little bit more.

So once again the ones that pay little to nothing into the system are rewarded and then ones footing the bill get screwed? Bernie is laughing his arse off I'm sure.

However, I do not think it is a good idea to give those not in the work force money for not being effected by this ordeal.
They already are getting everything free, from housing to smartphones. It's not like they'll go out and get jobs after this blows over.

Yea we're missing the cutoff. Oh well.

we are fortunate. my job is stable (wfh) and so is my wife's job. we don't have kids yet.
i'm fine with this as long as we are handing said checks out to tax paying citizens, who aren't already on government assistance.

So what happens in the scenario where a married couple that made over the limit in 2019 loses their jobs and has no income?
Posted on 3/19/20 at 1:54 pm to Tonio
Yup. Told everyone I wasn’t getting shite
Just the bill for it
Just the bill for it

Are they doing this on 2019 or 2018 tax filings?
Considering a ton of people haven't filed their taxes yet for 2019, I figured they would use 2018 records.

Meh, if they are going to do this I would rather people that need the help get the help.
Our government has fricked this up at every turn no matter how you view the virus. Since it is my money they are giving out the less they give the better.

My guess is that they would use your 2018 adjusted gross income since a lot of people haven't filed 2019 taxes.

How are they going to define couples? Married and fining jointly status? and if that is less than 150k you get $1,000 each?
