Neither of those are accurate.

8.57x pop 12.5x GDP 2024 numbers

For reference to this thread inside a thread LA would be 40th on the list of GDP if it were a country.

Mississippi is objectively worse than Missouri in just about every metric

I don't think the infant mortality rate or the average level of educational attainment or income or whatever defines the value of a place. All of those numbers tend to "get better" over time. But where are you in time? If you're living in a dying empire, maybe "twenty years ago" is just a better place to be, infant mortality stats be damned.

Sadly I have to agree with you. If my wife was down for it and could move more than 50 miles away from her mom then I would have been gone form this hell hole state a long time ago. Will always pull for my LSU tigers but the state sucks to live in plain and simple.

This list does not mean I won't travel to these states. There's plenty of things to do in all of the states such as skiing, beaches, mountains, bars, restaurants. Just personal preference from experience of interacting with people in these places, politics, cost of things, things to do, etc..

As if living in Rhode Island or Pennsylvania is better.

There are many States better than LA, no doubt, and there many worse.

Honorable mention:
Indiana

The people listing places like California and Hawaii have either never traveled to the Northeast, watch too much fox news, or don't realize how many shite states there actually are. Even the ones saying Mississippi are wrong

California is a great state to live in. It just has too many stupid politicians and people. Hawaii is great too. It's just hard to get get there.
