If you think Jason Williams is bad, the purported DA in Oakland is a million times worse. She is a nightmare of incompetence, with a little evil sprinkled in for good measure.

Many companies are retracting from big cities. They will be forced back in eventually. Bank on it. Either through incentives (see Rouse's) or coercion.

My company used to always go for downtown addresses, but I know for a fact that they are scaling back in a lot of CBD's now and even relocating entire offices to the suburbs over the next 2-3 years.

Can't wait to watch the city council meetings where the locals come in and demand that the city not allow InO to leave because it'll create another food desert.

Well, can’t blame them. They are a well run company and have probably been attempting to mitigate/manage through the issue, but the crime is not a problem for a burger company to solve.

That Hegenburger location is sketchy as shite. We had always stopped there after leaving the airport. Rental car companies are telling people not to fill up for gas on that road either. Keep in mind this is the main road to the airport once you get off the freeway.

My brother flew into Oakland once and the rental car people asked if he was staying in Oakland so they could notify the insurance company right away that the car would be stolen.

The Cane's right by it went to drive through only and stayed that way judging by the reviews.

Oakland was a shite hole 30 years ago.

The Oakland of 30 years ago is nowhere near the Oakland of today. Hell, Oakland 15 years ago is vastly different. That city, while definitely having it's bad areas, has some of the most expensive real estate in the country. It's mostly homogenoliously white upper class neighborhoods living next to government housing with retail sprinkled in between.

You couldn't get a sharper contrast in demographics and financial status. There's basically no middle class.

I like how they directly blamed crime instead of dancing around the reason.

They're a pretty conservative company.

The “community” is not responsible for the resulting “fast” food desert.

Looks like that location was built within the last 5 years too. Which means it probably has a very large dining room.

Speaking of IN-N-Out, who wants to join me in owning the only In-N-Out Burger in Louisiana? It'd make millions if it's off I-10 in Lafayette or maybe off I-12 around Baton Rouge

Why announce a date and wait until 3/24? CLOSE IT DOWN NOW. This doesn’t make much sense. It’s not like they have inventory that will last that long. Waiting for someone to get killed?

Inventory and for the employees. Give them time to transfer locations or find new jobs. The store is still profitable despite the rampant crime.

Actually the canes have been shifting to the two and three lane drive throughs lately and the last few have had smaller insides

In N Out would do well in Louisiana. They are unfortunately very slow to expand. Their demographic target is very similar to Chick Fil A or Raising Cane's, so wherever there is neighborhood with one of those two around - you can bet that In N Out would probably do very well there. They take up more space than a Cane's though, but usually in line with newer Chick Fil A's in terms of real estate needs.

So some possible areas:

Nelson Road/I-220 in Lake Charles
Sigen/I-10 in Baton Rouge
Anywhere on College Drive in Baton Rouge
Burbank/Lee in Baton Rouge
Johnston/Ambassador in Lafayette
Louisiana Ave/I-10 in Lafayette
21/I-12 in Madisonville
190/I-12 in Covington
Range/I-12 in Denham
Highway 30 in Gonzales
Pretty much anywhere on Vets in Metarie

Also I think the Louisiana Ave Exit in Lafayette is perfect for a Buc-ee's too. North side of I-10. And pretty much anything off I-12 in eastern Livingston/western Tangi.

Yeah I imagine they lost a lot of money on that. Digging around that shopping center on Google Maps, Walmart and Starbucks also boarded up.

this is not true. They are horrible hot or cold. Easily the worst fast food fries I’ve ever had. Zero flavor it’s like eating cardboard. The only way to make them edible is to dump all kinds of shite on them
