this is not true. They are horrible hot or cold. Easily the worst fast food fries I’ve ever had. Zero flavor it’s like eating cardboard. The only way to make them edible is to dump all kinds of shite on them
Animal Fries are awesome. Damn solid burger and shakes too. Maybe not always worth dealing with the insanely huge crowds at those stores, but still very very good.
You Texas folks won't like this, but they are probably one of the best fast food burger places now that Whataburger is sort of stagnating with their new owners and Shake Shack still hasn't really expanded very much. The solid employees at In N Out really make those places a good, consistent experience. It's like what Whataburger used to be and what Chick Fil A and Canes sort of are right now.
They are obviously a hundred miles ahead of Jack in the Box, McDonalds, and Burger King but that goes without saying.

They were hot and I ordered them "animal style" yet they were easily the worst fries have had ever ordered
In-N-Out is way up there on most overrated food chains I've ever eaten.
Similar chain that does pretty much the same thing is Culver's and it is so much better.

They should allow hunters to sight in rifles by shooting at the people breaking in cars in parking lot. Award points for moving targets or distance shots.

Who checks the google review for a fast food restaurant like in n out?
If I'm in an unfamiliar area, I absolutely check reviews for any restaurant I go to

You lost me here because their fries are the worst in the burger chain world. Their burgers are decent and their shakes are great but those fries are soggy garbage.

The fries are great when they're hot, not so much when cold.

In 2005 we were near Berkley for a conference and had reservations at a motel across the street from that In-n-Out because of an early flight out of Oakland.
Even then that In-n-Out seemed to have reduced hours compared to others.
What really bothered us, though, were the security guards protecting the parking lot of the motel. Nothing subtle about their presence. And they were even there at daybreak, very visible, much more so that we were used to in NOLA.
I checked Google maps and that motel no longer exists.
This may also explain why there aren't as many if any through flights from the east to Oakland.

Culver's is "midwest good" at best. It wouldn't make it where food is expected to taste good.

Even though it used to be easier and cheaper to fly out of Oakland than it was SFO, we have avoided it at all costs for the last 5 years. Many of the park and fly lots along Airport, Doolittle, and 98th have signs that say they cannot ensure the safety of your vehicle. Even the Airporter bus service tells you to wait in the terminal until you see the bus drive up. Having lived in the Bay Area my entire life, I know that Oakland has always been gritty and has had crime issues, but Ron Dellums becoming mayor seemed to open the floodgates. Unfortunately, each following mayor has been exponentially worse than the one before them, with Libby Schaaf setting the all-time standard for incompetency.

The Oakland of 30 years ago is nowhere near the Oakland of today. Hell, Oakland 15 years ago is vastly different. That city, while definitely having it's bad areas, has some of the most expensive real estate in the country. It's mostly homogenoliously white upper class neighborhoods living next to government housing with retail sprinkled in between.
You couldn't get a sharper contrast in demographics and financial status. There's basically no middle class.
This is a problem that is in smaller cities as well. I watch a ton of Police Body Cam footage from La Crosse. WI. Town of 52k. The local parks have been turned into makeshift homeless encampments. This is coming for every city that allows it. Lafayette was doing a decent job, but the machine turned on us and it won't be too long before we look worse than La Crosse.
