They were hot and I ordered them "animal style" yet they were easily the worst fries have had ever ordered.

Pretty much. Which is why I've never understood the hate for In N Out fries.

How close is this to that Shell Station in Oakland that was discussed last week? I think it's the one that's less than a mile away near the airport.

if that's the one i'm thinking about where you saw the exact same car there 3 years later, then i believe it was the bay area, yes.

Yeah I’m fine with the way they put it. At least they mentioned crime and safety is the reason. Everyone knows it’s a racial politics issue.

As a response, will the people of Oakland call In and Out a racist organization? Yep.

Will they continue to reduce police funding and support no bail and no prosecution for property crimes? Probably not.

There are crazy videos of people breaking into cars in the middle of the day and stealing shite literally seconds after the driver walks into the store at this location

About 3/4 of a mile or so.

Why announce a date and wait until 3/24? CLOSE IT DOWN NOW. This doesn’t make much sense. It’s not like they have inventory that will last that long. Waiting for someone to get killed?

They probably already have inventory on order that they are not canceling. And they estimated that it will be received and consumed by that date. Just my guess.

To be fair, if a customer checks the Google reviews on this location, they know to stay far away.

I would bet that's timed with other stores in that immediate area that are closing. Looks like the Wal Mart right behind it already shut down.

That neighborhood must be extremely bad right now. It's likely they are having trouble finding employees to staff it at night. For a place as busy as an In n Out to have smash and grabs being mentioned so much in their reviews...it must have gotten really bad.

Some of the reviews:

quote:

I love In-N-Out but this location is in a terrible area. There are people driving around in stolen cars looking for rental cars going/coming from the airport and breaking into the cars to steal your luggage. This happens in broad daylight and happened to me, even though I parked right in front of the door. Do not stop here, if you want the food go through the drive thru or better yet go to a different In-N-Out. There is security outside but they can't/don't do anything about it. They simply record the incident and tell you to file a police report online

quote:

AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. Wish I had read the recent reviews. Stopped here after landing at the airport. Rental car was broken into and my backpack was stolen. While talking to security guard, another smash and grab happened right in front of us. This is unacceptable, this location needs to be shut down. Embarrassing that the city allows this and does nothing.

quote:

Food and service are great... Location is not safe. Lots of break INS to the point where I won't eat in unless I can park my car in front and watch it while I eat

quote:

In-N-Out is always amazing. However, this particular location is a little sketchy. The one and only time I visited this location there had been 2 smash and grab break-ins to vehicles in the parking lot only feet from the building! Mind you, this was around 4 PM in broad daylight. Just be careful when visiting this spot and don't leave any valuables unattended.

Who checks the google review for a fast food restaurant like in n out? The thieves feast on people coming to and from the airport with all of their stuff.

Many companies are retracting from big cities. They will be forced back in eventually. Bank on it. Either through incentives (see Rouse's) or coercion.

It got better in the late 1990s, but around 2012 or so it started getting worse.

The last 5-6 years have been really bad in California. Crime and homelessness around the opioid crisis has been a huge issue. Local governments in very expensive areas like most of San Mateo county are dealing with it somehow, but places like Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, etc. are just ignoring it. When you start having homeless encampments that are left unpatrolled, they tend to just get larger and larger there.
