Garth is the reason we have crappy pop country today.
No, no he is not

He indisputably is. He created the entire trash genre that evolved into today’s pop country and not many people argue that fact.

Who came first: Garth Brooks or Brooks and Dunn?
Honest question I never have been a country guy

Garth’s first album was a few years prior to Brooks and Dunn I believe

Yikes. Maybe read the lyrics again sometime.

Honestly, I'd give Garth a pass and blame the people that bought his shitty records.

I feel like I’m the only person in Baton Rouge that never listened to Garth Brooks

Only the ones fortunate enough to take a risk, or be competent enough, to leave Louisiana for good understand what a true destitute wasteland that place is. I’ve still good friends there for lack of a better option I suppose.
The downvotes to your post only illustrate and support your statement. I escaped. My only regret is not doing it decades sooner. Every facet of my life improved when I took that blind roll of the dice and left Louisiana.
Calling Baton Rouge is horrible.

I cringe.
Just say you're a raging effing pussy and save us some time.

Does it fricking matter? Its a song that gets the crowd excited and people have fun. Im not a huge fan of the song but I like when they play it because it gets the crowd pumped.
No one says its the perfect song.

Calling Baton Rouge seems to be about a truck driver missing an underage hooker. It’s definitely not about missing the state of Louisiana.
I can't stand the song because of the hillbilly fiddle. But I read the lyrics and you're wrong about the meaning.
A truck driver banged a woman with a youthful spirit. Now he calls her when he can using a pay phone (this is why it costs money). This is also why the song is titled - Calling Baton Rouge.
Your hooker fantasies are your own psychological issues.
