re: I'm not a huge fan of slow drivers in the left lane, but use some common sense people

I didn't say it did. I said safely and quickly.
Technically you can drive 45 mph on the interstates in Louisiana. You could in theory legally pass at 45.1 mph.
That would neither be safe nor quick.

Brake checking follows tailgating. Tailgating is already creating an extremely dangerous situation.
That said, while I understand the instinct to communicate that to the fricking douche that is putting you/your family's life in danger, adding additional risk (via brake checking) makes no real sense.
If you're stuck behind a slow driver, honk, flash lights, whatever. I've never even understood the concept of tailgating, as it puts you in danger as well.

I know, was just giving my thoughts on the situation as that is usually the next progression in these left land discussions.

When dipshits do this, I like to throw my blinker on just as the car tailgating me nearly has a chance to pass the car I just passed.. and almost has the ability to go around me in the right lane.
Then, I will merge over into the right lane gradually over about 20 seconds to piss them off more.

I'm not a huge fan of slow drivers in the left lane
To sum it up:
- Driving in the left lane - Stupid
- Tailgating the left lane driver - Stupid
- Brake checking the tailgater - Stupid
ETA: My post was more hypothetical, not specific to this very instance but obviously is on topic.

I despise slow left lane drivers, but I never tailgate. And the thing that pisses me off more than slow left lane drivers is when I’m doing 80 in a 70 and some baw tailgates me wanting to do 85-90. Then I have no problem brake checking

And I hope a cop catches you being a raging dangerous douchebag just like the raging dangerous douchebag you're trying to "piss off more."
Someone tailgating you is zero excuse to also be a jackass.

But I'm convinced that a lot of serious accidents are caused because people don't get what they want immediately and lose their shite.
We all know and agree left lane cruisers are shitty. But what we don't often talk about and we also all know happens a lot is that the guy wanting to go fast in the left lane thinks he should be able to go as fast as he wants and the lane should be totally clear for him to do so, and that is not how it works.
Hypothetically, if someone is driving the speed limit or over to pass cars, then the fast driver needs to wait for them to pass cars, and yes, he'll have to slow down.
Essentially, most people are shitty drivers.

Only if you aren't cutting over right in front of people going faster than you.

And this should be completely reasonable to any driver.
The issue around here is that people don't get over. Ever. So you'll have a train of 15-20 cars in the left lane...and one or two cars in the right. And none of the left lane cars ever move over.
So you're forced to just sit behind the jackass train, or take your chance with passing on the right.
I mean FFS one day on my commute home me and another dude that was going the same speed as me literally traveled four fricking miles in the right lane passing cars in the left....not a single car with us in the right lane. Every other car on the interstate was in the left lane bumper to bumper. It was just mindblowing.

So is brake checking.
Both done willingly.
People hit their brakes all the time. The only time its a problem is when the car behind them is too close to them, that they cant stop in time
Tailgating is the greater danger

Maybe a pass isn't the right way to say it, but we basically never call out that guy, just the slow left lane driver.
And this should be completely reasonable to any driver.

Really depends on the distance and all, there is no firm set rule. If they are multiple car lengths behind and have time to see me and slow down i'll get over for a few seconds to to allow slower car to merge and get up to speed then get immediately back in the right lane.
