i check the rear view mirror and if they are in a reasonable distance / time zone i'll wait but i'm not gonna sit behind and wait for them to pass just because, god forbid, they may have to slow done for a few seconds.

How so? The only person that can cause the wreck there is the person in front. The tailgater can likely see in front of that car to realize that the slow left laner wont be stopping.

Because you can't clearly see what's ahead of you when you're tailgating. For all you know, there could be a blown tire or something in the road and the person ahead of you would have to slow down to avoid it.

Tailgating and brake checking are both a-hole maneuvers that are dangerous to everyone around them. It's not that hard to not drive like a dickbutt.

Okay, I'll bite.

So hypothetically, the brake checker actually kills the tailgater. What you think will happen to the brake checker?

(Obviously two wrongs don't make a right).

From where everyone was, it looked like the car being tailgating most likely saw the car about to merge on the interstate. If it were me, I would've let that car merge then get over. The tailgater was on their arse right away.

When is it ever ok to drive dangerously on a road?

I hit the exacta yesterday and wish I could have been able to video it. Had a guy in front of me in a bit of a beater car, with Georgia plates, in the passing Lane, going 60, slower than anyone around him, and he had his flashers on.

The ot would have blown a collective gasket.

Some of you act like this car came out of thin air. You don't think they can see ahead of the car before tailgating?

It doesn't even seem like a real brake check. The person in the left lane was probably suddenly startled when looking to move over in the right lane and saw the guy on his arse. A quick tap to the brake to cancel cruise is probably all it was. It wasn't really a brake check. Slamming on your brake and slowing down dramatically I consider a brake check.

For all we know, the car was planning on doing that but just got really pissed at that tailgater.

I mean, the video shows the brake checker getting back into the right lane after brake checking.

It didnt help that the person being brake checked is a complete retard and lost control of their vehicle.

Nothing in that video indicates the person in the left lane was a left lane cruiser. It all adds up to proper left lane usage. They very well might have been, but that instance it was all proper use.

Break checking is one of my favorite driving activities. I have almost made some assholes wreck. That said...

1) I don’t break check people when im in the left lane ever, just dont

2) Im im in the left lane, I get over if someone wants to go faster, no matter how unreasonably fast they want to go.

3) My courtesy to other drivers doesn’t come at the expense to those behind me

Who gives a frick? It's illegal because it's dangerous.

Turn up the radio, chill out, let the person get over, and flip them off as you pass them.

I mean, my goal when driving is just to get to my destination without incident. To accomplish that, I just stay the hell out of everyone's way. There are wayyyy too many emotional people on the road.
