I often wondered if the adult ADHD could develop after 40...I find my ability to concentrate on things that take longer time lacking.

Try not to follow people around talking to them. That's a dead give-away that you've taken too much.Best of luck.

Best thing I ever did was stop taking that shite once I graduated. You won't eat and sleep is going to be a bitch.

You won't be hungry, you'll lose a bunch of weight, and won't be able to sleep. Congrats on the focus, though, ya lethargic SOB.

I tried the Adderall XR thing a few years ago and would lay in bed staring at my ceiling because my mind was racing all night.

I'd rather fight through lethargy

Any other adults been prescribed this and what have your experiences been?

I was on it for 15 years. It eventually stopped being effective so naturally I started using cocaine to supplement, then crack. The only side effect other than diminishing returns are divorce and financial ruin.

Other than that though I feel like I really have a grasp on my life.

Same. When I did eat in the evenings I would binge like crazy. It was awful. I would get crazy depressed once I came off the stuff too. Only time I really enjoyed it was taking it while partying since you don't feel the come down.

It has seemed to for me. Maybe I'm just not as well equipped to deal with the distractions of this tech era.

2. If it's XR its not as bad a crash but there really is no avoiding it. Around 7-10pm you will start to slow and and get tired. Just how it is. Some people get moody when this happens.

XR gave me headaches. I could only use the regular instant release kind.

XR

I will say that I wasn't a fan of the instant release because of the sleep issue. The time release has been great for me. No issues sleeping, the crash is non existent (for me), and the appetite is still there during the day. That part is dulled by the fact that I get the cotton mouth from it and drink water non stop all day long.

He diagnosed you with the inability to cope with life stressors.

My condolences

How do you go about this? Just hey doc I can't focus? Because I sure can't focus on one thing for more than 10 minutes.

I've been on XR for several years now. I'm 48.

It definitely gives you energy and helps you focus.

Unfortunately, your body develops a tolerance to it and you have to increase the dosage every couple of years.

Quick trigger by the doc. Have you ever considered trying harder and maybe making a few lifestyle changes with diet, habits, etc. instead of being medicated? The whole fricking world seems to rely on meds as opposed to dealing with non life threatening shite naturally.
