So someone putting down a tarp days in advance of the parade gives them the right to that area? I can’t imagine the number of fights from people “taking” someone’s spot.

Drove down Canal, Carrolton and Orleans last night, some have their survey tape staked out for Endymion already.. Wonder if they pulled those yet...?

Idiots today don't understand the same unwritten rules they had back in the day.. People were more courteous..
I’ve understood this for years and it seems like after Katrina, the unwritten rules were re-written by the same exact people. People put up their ladders in St. Charles like 2-5 feet from the floats.

Seriously, in what world does a tarp on the ground mean you can't stand in that spot? Do the people who put these down honestly believe that people are obligated to not stand in that spot?
CSB. Some lady approached me at the barricade at Julia and St. Charles just before Bacchus rolled up. I had been there for at least an hour. She informed me I was "in her spot" and that I had to move. NOPD Sgt. walks over and says "Mam, that spot is on a city street in New Orleans, LA. It doesn't belong to you. Move along."

Yeah the “spot” saving several hours to overnight, with no one there, is the fricking worst whether by tarp, ladder, or spray paint. Speaking as someone NOT a morning person, 4 am the morning of should be the standard. That way those that want it the most get it as opposed to some shitbag leaving shite and expecting to walk up and have it saved.
