I also think it’s funny how a bunch of Texas and Louisiana fishermen and duck hunters think they want to play in the snow for half the year

Definitely East side for me. I've been out to California enough, back when it was a cooler place than it is now. Never had much interest in Vegas or Colorado. Lived in Texas years ago, don't think I need to go back. I love the East Coast and the Caribbean. We've got a short trip coming up doing Miami and Key West. New York City is always a spot I'll visit, same with Upstate NY and Ontario.

East, simply because I’d never have to see West Memphis, AR, ever again.

I live 45 minutes from the river on the East side. The smokies, beaches, southern food, Central time.

West. Texas, California and Hawaii are the best the US has to offer

You do realize there is way more to the state of California than just the cities right? To base an entire humongous gorgeous state off of a city or cities is stupid lol.
Yeah. Good thing I didn't do that.

Ehhhh...that water is way too cold. Give me Gulf of America beaches over Cali beaches any day. Santa Monica pier is cool though.

And that doesn’t even include the national parks.
It doesn’t include major cities either.
I love states like Alaska, Wyoming, etc., as much as anyone, but you’re not going to be riding too many roller coasters or attending any pro sports games in those states. You’re not going to climb any mountains in Florida.
Every other state lacks something. California essentially has it all - from a tourism standpoint.

Honestly. I'd pick east, but would be happy with either.

You can go so far west that you go east and vice versa. So you're never really west or east of the Mississippi.
In fact, a few Aleutian Islands are on the eastern side of the 180th meridian, and thus reach that point where you go so far west that you go east.

Never had any desire to visit California.
Then you are missing out.
LA County doesn’t represent the entire state.
