If you had to choose one side of the Mississippi River to live on

And couldn’t ever again travel or visit the other side, which would you choose? And why?
Within the US and Alaska and Hawaii belong to the west.
I’m on the east side and I rarely get over to the other side. Florida is a great vacation spot too.
Never had any desire to visit California.

I’m good in Texas. Best BBQ and close enough to crawfish and the best boudin w/o having to cross the Mississippi River.

West!
Lived in N CA. Great places to visit.
CO, UT, OR, CA, AZ, MT, WA, ID…all day long.

I thought West for sure but changed my mind.
East Tn, north Ga, Florida beaches, Big cities with Chicago and NY if I have that weekend itch. Of course my family and career are all here too.
If I had a shitload of money I may pick West so I could retire in Montana or Wyoming, but current lifestyle I think I choose East.

Well dang. When you put it that way, I'd have to say west.
ETA: If it's just the "lower 48," I'd say east. I've seen most of what I want to see west of the Mississippi if we don't include Alaska and Hawaii.

I have a hard time understanding this thinking. From a tourism standpoint, California is easily the #1 state in the country (overall) as far as the variety of things to do.

L.A. kind of sucks, but San Diego is a great place to visit.
