Biblically the claim is ridiculous.
The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
We are not God - so we have no right to say when life begins - only He does - or when life ends.
So people who kill should rot in jail.

A guy up for less than 2nd degree wouldn't be getting the death penalty anyway in Louisiana. IDK about other states.

He was up for parole and my family members were asked to fill out a document recommending either parole or imprisonment. We all recommended imprisonment.

You’re mixing up two different things. Personal forgiveness and civil justice aren’t the same. Neither are eternal judgment and earthly punishment.
Jesus tells us as individuals to forgive and let God handle vengeance. Eternal forgiveness or condemnation is God’s call alone. But that doesn’t cancel out the government’s God-given authority to punish evil here on earth. Those are separate categories.

I think anyone unquestionably guilty of murder deserves the death penalty regardless of whether or not I am related to the victim.
And it should be done quickly.
