I don't support the death penalty because the person who administers the death then themselves becomes a murderer. Committing murder is a crime, but it's not a crime for the government to legally kill the person who committed the murder. Murder is murder, even when it's government sanctioned as punishment.

My son was murdered and we wanted a life sentence over the death penalty. Figured sitting behind bars for life was more of a punishment than the death penalty which is an easy out for the criminal. Of course with our system the way it is, most sit on death row for years before they are actually executed.

The government has no right over anyone’s life - that is God’s business. Jesus fulfilled the law of the Old Testament - and began a new one with the Sermon on the Mount (institution of the kingdom).
When Cain killed Abel - God punished Cain - God didn’t take his life. In the book of Ezekiel - it is said that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.
There is no reason for the death penalty if the criminal is put away for life. Moses may have ‘allowed’ criminals to be punished by death, just as Jesus explains that Moses ‘allowed’ divorce because the people were unruly.
Jesus preaches about justice and mercy and forgiveness. I doubt He’d be for the death penalty. I mean, Jesus was given the death penalty for no actual legal reason - He did it to save us. Don’t you think He’d want criminals to repent?

To me, the death penalty is kind of pointless. The prisoner stays on Detah Row for 20-25 years. So if the death is to bring closure to the victims family - it’s a long wait.
So I say, they might as well be in prison forever. But that’s just my personal feelings.
However, if there was like a maximum time allowed before execution -
Like 5 years, I’d probably be more open to the execution possibility.

I did have a family member killed by two thugs who need money to pay off a gambling debt. Police said they needed more evidence, his brother had enough for conviction. But, of course, this is just a rumor.

Based on my family values, upbringing, religious beliefs, and general principles of life it is considered sacrosanct to me to swiftly administer punishment for all offenses according to their degree with a mind to the principle of "An Eye For An Eye".

Yes I would want them tortured and killed. I personally think we need to bring back public executions. Crime has gotten out of control- rapists and murderers should be made an example out of. Maybe that would make someone think twice about committing a heinous act

I truly believe that if we went back to public executions for capital murder, we would have a lot less of it to deal with.
That being said, if someone murdered one of my children or grandchildren, I would be chomping at the bit to put that thing down. Then I would eat a rare steak, drink 3 beers and take a nap.
