I did have a family member killed. The guy was sentenced to life, and after the trial, I have not dedicated one minute of thought to the murderer or his situation. I really don't care if he was sentenced to death or life, as long as it was one of those. A long time ago, I reduced the guy who killed my brother to just a thing, not even human, no different than a little pile of dirt. No reason to let this POS occupy any of my time or thought.

I’m on the fence about the death penalty for heinous crimes and often have this pop up in my mind when evaluating the death penalty scenario.

A killer or rapist certainly deserves death…….

The amazing adaptability of the human mind to harsh or limited environments has always precluded me from considering life imprisonment as a worthy, deserving punishment for murder. I always think to Richard Speck having a gay ol' time in prison, for years and years and years. He adapted and derived ways to enjoy his life in stir. I have no doubt most others of similar sociopathic ilk in his position do the same. Keeping such people alive for decades and decades, paying for their food and health-care is just an absolute abomination to me. One of the reasons I find the entire modern-day justice system such a joke.

No government can stop every murder no matter how much leeway you give them. The crimes of passion happen in a spur of the moment that no one can predict. People have to be responsible for themselves.
I'm in the if more people suffered an eye for an eye there'd be less crime crowd. If a child of yours ( not you specifically) was killed wouldn't you want the option for 5 minutes alone with the person? Imo there is no greater pain than losing a child.

It really depends on how it went down. If my relative was being a dipshit and forced someone’s hand. No. If someone killed a relative minding their own business. Absolutely. I’d Baron Rouge airport that mother fricker.

I think for many of us, we have thoughts of what we would want/not want. However, I believe this is one of those situations where until you are faced with it in reality, your answer is meaningless. It’s easy to say what you would do but reality is often very different.
