$500 for any working gun, no questions asked
quote:

On Saturday, Jan. 12, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that she will be holding a gun buyback day next week, on Saturday, Jan. 19th.

The administration is offering $500 in cash for any working firearm, including rifles, pistols, and shotguns, “no questions asked at all.”

The event will be held at New Hope Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents who need one can also receive a gun lock for safety and storage.

“This is our city,” said Cantrell, “and public safety is a public health issue. Let’s move our city forward together. Let’s get the guns off the streets.”

That and hi-point pistols would make you a pretty penny.

Buying that rifle, a hipoint, 9, 40, 45 then flipping them nets you $1400.

Solid economics by NOLA

Wow this could really backfire.

In addition to the fact that you can buy a new gun retail for less than this and just turnaround and profit, there is also the question of are they going to shoot all these guns on sight to ensure they are "working."

Do you think they will do this for residents of a different state? I could make a nice little vacation out of this

I have an old bolt action 22 that I'll take 500 for. Do you have to be a Nola resident?

If they ask you where you are from just remind them of this:

shite! I'll just go buy 3 or 4 single shots at the pawn shop and turn it into $1500-2000 and buy me a real nice new shotgun!

I have a single shot breech load 12 gauge that’s worth a little more than $100.

Cha ching.

Also, if you live in or near NOLA and own guns, lock them up because they’ll be an even hotter commodity for thieves leading up to this buyback.

So they don't ask any questions, except "where you stay?"
