The biggest factor to consider is how old are the kids and can they keep their mouth shut.

yeah and this isn't on the border with Mexico

this was in VA

there are some outfits that could ignore $1M but they likely aren't carrying $1M anywhere near VA

Some of you need to watch No County For Old Men.

And rethink keeping the money.

If you found $5 on the side of the road nobody would freak out if you kept it. I’d treat $1M the same way and head off to an Indian casino to clean it.

I was cutting grass at my first job and saw a 20 on the ground of the park, folded up. Hopped off the mower and grabbed it. Unfolded it to unveil it was a fake bill that said "got you you greedy bastard" on the back.

Even if you keep the money any deposit or purchase made over $10k will alert the IRS.

Key word is "Nearly". There was 1 million dollars there but they took about 20K to make their lives more comfortable. Not as dumb as you think.

Why would you turn over any money? you literally just hit the jackpot, tax free

so that there is a paper trail for whatever drug dealer is looking for his money?

I would think if it was a legit business or company moving the money you would hear about it on the news, or social media. Since no companies have made an emergency plea and announce a reward for finding/returning the money this makes me believe it may be some kind of "dirty" money.

This makes me go into thinking about No Country for Old Men, and use what I learned from what they did and didn't do.

-Don't take it immediately home, go through it to make sure there are no kind of tracking devices.
-Spread it out in multiple safety deposit boxes at different banks.
-Vacuum seal it in bundles of $10 or $20 thousand dollars that I can keep hidden out of a banking institute to have quick access if needed.

I was out that way that day! Could've been me. You wouldn't be reading about it if I found it though.

What does this have to with NCFOM?

ETA - what does that accomplish in the first place?

Under what circumstances does 2 bags containing a million bucks end up in the road? Did they just toss it in the back of a pickup with the tailgate down or strap it to the roof of the car? All I know is that if I had a million cash in duffel bags, that shite would be riding next to me in the front passenger seat wearing a seatbelt.

1 million dollars obviously should make you nervous. Have to turn that in.

Hundred dollars, depending on the situation, you probably keep. But really, $500 and up, unless maybe you find it randomly in the middle of nowhere, you should probably look around and do what you can to find the owner.

Went to a t-wolves game at the Target Center in Minneapolis back in highschool and found a folded $100 bill on the ground. Pocketed it.

When I looked at it later and unfolded it, it had a picture of the three stooges on the back and said "knuck knuck thought you found a buck"

My concern if I had found the cash and kept it would be that the former owners of the cash were less than legitimate

And if they somehow lost it in the middle of nowhere and not know they lost it until they reached their destination, then how would they even know where to look.

If the finders don't suddenly go all bling and start buying up expensive stuff to draw attention to themselves, who's to know who found it, or if it was even found.

Riiiiiiiight. They stopped and grabbed random bags and threw em un their truck without knowing the contents?

Sounds like they got cold feet later.

Bottom line, I keep it. Keep about 20k for bills and bury the rest for 6 months and slowly assimilate into the system

Those idiots. Pinkman doesn’t even want the money. He threw it in the road on purpose!
