I used quotation marks for a reason… that means open to interpretation, tongue-in-cheek, so to speak…

I haven’t seen Phantom. My favorite is Les Mis. But if you ever get the chance to see any of the “…Goes Wrong” productions, go. They are hilarious. Not musicals, but lots of broad slapstick comedy. Think Frasier on stage.

It’s a whole different experience up close, when you can see the facial expressions of the actors.
I have season tickets on Row G in Baton Rouge. Close enough to see them sweat; far enough to not get swallowed by the orchestra.

To quote Roger Waters:
"Lloyd-Webber's awful stuff
Runs for years and years and years"
With that little bit out of the way, I have to agree with you that - yeah, Phantom is a pretty good production. Far and away better than Cats.
I got absolutely sick of it back in the late 80s and 90s just from the ceaseless jibber-jabber about it, but in all honesty it's pretty well written, composed, and produced. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better show to go see.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I actually met the actress that plays Madame Giry at our hotel last Sunday morning as we were getting ready to check out. It was a brief interaction, but she was very nice. She actually previously played Christine about 20 years ago.

One of the few musicals I actually like. The wife and I have seen it a couple of times.

Yeah, the movie has Raoul buying the music box at the auction as an old man.
The three leads were really good today. Voices were outstanding. I was on third row in balcony so saw it pretty well.

We went last week and really enjoyed it. The seats were gifted to us. Wish we were closer to the stage, but if we sat under that Chandelier when it fell, even knowing it would, I think my wife would have shite herself. Lol
We are going to Spamalot and the book of Mormon later. I also got her 2 tickets to Six for her to take one of her friends.

Les Mis… good call, I saw that a long while back and had forgotten about it, it was amazing, the ending scene was a spectacle

I’ve never been a fan of musicals about daytime talk show hosts. Seems a little silly to me. I mean, just make a documentary.

Not hot exactly, but certainly attractive and excellent in her role. A young black woman this time around.

That’s how it was written in the original novel and to my knowledge, is what the musical is supposed to convey.
When the chandelier drops after the auctioneer yells “gentlemen!”, thats when the musical goes back in time when Raoul was young and in pursuit of Christine.

“Wicked” is good. Saw it in NYC. Wife wanted to go but I enjoyed it too.

Tix to the theater, opera, ballet and symphony are pretty expensive, at least here in Houston, and with a fancy dinner, theater clothes and Ubers it is not an inexpensive night on the town. I personally do not see many TP allies involved.

It's always been my least favorite musical, but it ain't bad. Good, live entertainment is a treat. Always has been.

I saw it there some years back.
My ex-wife decided we needed to do something other than concerts for a change.
I thought it was pretty amazing.....

my 11 year old daughter sang a couple songs from Phantom in chorus, and she really likes the music, so i surprised her with tickets. pretty decent seats, orchestra right on row U. worth every penny for that experience with her. when the chandelier comes down at the open and the organ hits, she was so excited that i thought she was literally going to levitate out of her seat
amazing night all around, and i'm so glad i did it
