Didn’t take long for the “theatre is ghey” baws to come out of the trailer park.
It is not as if musicals are high art. Many trailer park adjacent people attend.

Phantom is by far our favorite musical, we’ve seem it in a few cities and it never ceases to amaze us.

The opening scene literally takes our breath away when the chandelier drops and the loud organ kicks in, gives me chills every time.

I knew someone who saw Phantom in NYC during its opening run and she paid a lot for her close to the stage seat. What surprised her in the best way was the costumes looked to be real silks and satins and not the usual made-to-be cleaned for a five year run fabrics.

The few productions I've seen from the best seats, in retrospect, make me wish I hadn't been poor back then.

Did you get robbed and raped when you left the theater?

The costumes are one of the things that make this musical notable in addition to the music itself.

When they perform Masquerade, the details on the costumes are mind blowing

It’s a great thing and thanks for sharing about it.

There are several OT posters that have no idea about shows like this and will want to shite all over your post.

Here you are acting like a snob because you went to a play.

Get over yourself.

One of the greats. I have seen it several times in New Orleans and in Las Vegas when it had its own theater at the Venetian.

What grinds my gears is paying an arse load of money for great seats at a musical and some jackass next to us sings the fricking songs along with them.

A lot of people don’t know the novel was written over 100 years ago and the musical itself opened in the mid 80s in London

My co worker thought the same

A musical at that. Spiderman was a musical. Clueless was a musical.

Phantom gets shite from the more hardcore musical fans because it’s Andrew Lloyd Webber (and because the main riff was arguably plagiarized, but neither here nor there…), but it’s genuinely a fun show with excellent production value.
