I only go to plays/musicals when we go to NYC.

If you look at the Playbill credits many of the actors have been on Broadway. The quality of the touring Broadway plays is pretty good

The cast at the most recent show that came to New Orleans was actually quite good. I've seen it four times at Saenger. Probably the best one.

Was it at the Venetian?
Not sure if it is still there, but at one time the Venetian built a theater that was a replica of the interior of the Paris Opera House and would stage nightly performances of Phantom. I believe Andrew Lloyd Webber even worked with them to customize the show for a shorter run time.
