I you really like Phantom, go see Masquerade in NYC. It's an immersive Phantom where the scenes play out right in front of you as you wander through an old warehouse. The actors have all been on Broadway in Phantom, and having them sing steps away while you feel a part of the production is amazing. It was recently extended through this September.

Saw it last week. Had the backup Christine and Raoul. There was definitely no chemistry between the two. Besides that, the production itself was amazing. It's beautiful to see all of the original designs being brought back to life and even a few repurposed set pieces from the Broadway production. The chandelier effect is amazing. I've seen a few videos from the guy who made it but it doesn't fully show the mechanism that makes the tarps disappear in the blink of an eye.

The wife and I went to see Miss Saigon in Atlanta about 20 or so years ago. It was fantastic. If you ever get the chance, check it out.

Best video version is “At the Royal Albert music hall” on DVD or Blueray. Actual play recorded and is excellent. Much better than any of the movie versions

I saw this last night. Was the Phantom black in the NOLA production?

I personally didn't care for how much vibrato he uses.

I saw Phantom at the Saenger in 6th grade and it turned into one of the best experiences for my childhood. I would love to see it again as an adult.

Fun fact - the overture that plays as the chandelier rises and reassembles at the opening of the play was purposely written as a loud piece of music to drown out the sounds of the mechanical hoists that were used to lift the pieces off the ground.

I've seen Phantom twice - both times at Atlanta's Fox Theater. Great productions, but the way the Fox is built you really don't see the Phantom when he is on the procenium arch in the second act.

My wife did a year of study abroad in the UK and got to see a production in the West End.

We took our grown son and our teen daughter to see it at the Saenger in March and I was impressed. I have seen it two other times, once in Atlanta and once in Chicago and it has always been impressive. I was equally impressed with the Venue...very nice theater. We stayed in the quarter within walking distance and it was a great 4 day weekend. I like to shite on New Orleans because I am from Atlanta and its what people from Atlanta do (and vice versa for people from New Orleans) but New Orleans seldom fails to make for a good 3-5 day weekend.

I travel to New York City regularly for work and when I am there, I will try and see at least one musical. Last weekend I saw Six and it was very good…. it was very short, but very good.

I’ve seen probably close to 20 different musicals.

But this thread speaks gospel, there is no other musical on the planet like Phantom, and it’s not even close.

If it’s any consolation, when I saw Six in New York, four of the six wives were black, which obviously is nowhere close to being realistic whenever we’re talking about the six wives of Henry VIII

Great show, saw it at the Fox in Atlanta.
The producer was definitely never a client of mine.

Sir Cam is the ultimate producer, both sides of the pond. My friend told me he’s an ultimate gentleman also.

Spamalot coming in June. Hilarious one.

I saw it in Vegas a few years back. Lots of Britney Spears jokes in the version I saw.

Saw it about 20 years ago in Nola. “Masquerade” was my favorite number.

Fantastic play. Saw it once on Broadway and once at the Saenger.
