The third post said it sounded gay. Why no interest in telling them to get over themselves?

The opening scene literally takes our breath away when the chandelier drops and the loud organ kicks in, gives me chills every time.
Absolutely. The scene when the chandelier drops and the music starts is incredible and breathtaking.

Ah yes, the good ole “I’m not bad, you are!!” argument.

Just curious, did your leg tattoos a tattoo sleeves make you feel a bit out of place in a fine arts theatre setting?
Jk, lol. Glad you enjoyed it, brother

Best video version is “At the Royal Albert music hall” on DVD or Blueray. Actual play recorded and is excellent. Much better than any of the movie versions

I saw it off broadway when I was 17, fell asleep
but it was cool

No leg tatts here
I enjoy going to musicals quite a bit actually
Phantom is by far the best one we’ve seen, Flashdance came through Houston a few years back and that was kick arse
I’ll travel to New York quite a bit for work so I try to catch a musical while I’m there… over the past year I’ve seen hamilton, the notebook and back to the future.. All were pretty awesome, the only issue I had with the notebook was that it was pretty woke …several of the characters didn’t match the movie. Moulin Rouge is another one which I would recommend, pretty high energy and the soundtrack was fantastic.
The only one that (over the years) was total dog shite was Dr. Dolittle with Tommy Tune, it was unbearable and we left during the intermission
IDGAF what some of the Neanderthal losers on here say, if I want to do something I just fricking do it. I don’t need approval from the turds on here who barely know how to read and write.

Just left show. Was damn good.
Must disagree. Like the second act as much as first. Second half is more emotionally intense

I saw Spamalot in Vegas a long time ago. I wonder if they’ll still be doing the Brittany Spears jokes.

Seen it twice at the Saenger in my younger days. Highly recommend it. Never thought I would see anything regarding opera until a girlfriend wanted to see it. Glad I experienced it.

I don’t know if you caught onto it or not, but the old man at the very beginning who bids on the monkey is Raoul, the man pursuing Christine throughout the musical (who ends up with her at the very end when Phantom “dies”).
In Phantom, the story begins in 1911 at an auction at the ruined Paris Opera House. The old Raoul buys the monkey music box because it reminds him of Christine and the events that happened there decades earlier.
Then when the chandelier is restored and rises to the ceiling (in the intense organ playing begins to kickstart the story)
, it then flashes back to the 1880s, where we see young Raoul… and that’s what most of the musical is.
In the novel’s ending , it goes back to “modern day” Raoul and he goes by Christina’s tombstone in the cemetery and places the monkey down next to her tombstone… the musical is different as it ends before that, but I actually prefer the way that the musical ends
The monkey music box is important because the Phantom had the exact same one in his underground lair, which is why it triggers Raoul’s memories at the beginning when he bids on it

We saw it in toranto, Canada. I fell into a deep sleep and when one of the singers hit a real high note , I jumped. People around me laughed. I guess they didn’t know you’re not supposed to laugh at an opera.

Thanks for ruining the play.

It’s not a play… and I didn’t ruin anything.

Exactly. You and me both. I don’t care what the knuckle-dragging shite for brains posters on here think.

Fun fact: the current Lincoln Parish assistant DA was in the original Broadway cast.

Because he felt attacked since he and his old lady used to go to Bayou Country Superfest.

There are several OT posters that have no idea about shows like this and will want to shite all over your post. But they will go see a nameless country act in 90 degree weather and feel superior about it. LOL
Both aren’t my cup of tea
Now a nameless metal act
That’s my shite

Used to take my wife & son to all the big musicals at the Saenger (& Mahalia Jackson when the Saenger was down). Enjoyed every one of them, but once we started getting seats up front, it was impossible to go back to cheap seats. It’s a whole different experience up close, when you can see the facial expressions of the actors.
