What if they aren't strangers?

Just keep on digging making yourself look more and more foolish.

Exactly. Which is why most people are ignoring your opinions.

Well if you are educated on the subject you are not acting like it.

I wasn't being mean about things just pointing out it was wrong and disingenuous to say things like "sugar is a drug" "sugar is addicting"

quote:

Do you not agree that sugar is bad?

So long as somebody is controlling their overall caloric intake, no they aren't really "bad". Do they cause some inflammation, sure but mainly when over consumed. Are they easy to over eat on, absolutely and as I mentioned it should be taken in limited quantity mainly due to appetite stimulation thru lack of satiety.

quote:

his whole thread has not been about losing weight... it is what has caused our nations obesity problem

Confused, a thread about obesity epidemic and we are posting things like "sugar is a drug" yet we aren't talking fat loss???

And it wasn't just you, apologize if it came across as I was just zoning in on you. There were three or four comments before you that stated similar items. I was just pointing out that thought process is incorrect.

Frankly we are fat because we have food readily available and households do not cook nearly as often as they used to. Portions have gotten larger and people are eating more and more period. They also are eating more processed foods(like those filled with sugar) that provide very little satiety, i.e. they do not cook and eat whole foods anymore.

This combined with a culture that encourages a lack of non exercise physical activity and a society that discourages hard work and encourages those that are overweight through "understanding" and you have a society that is ripe for obesity.

Didn't help we took real PE and the physical fitness test out of schools for fear of hurting feelings.

Want to help curb the obesity rate especially in children bring back real Physical education and real education on food.

I would hope that most people would be smart enough not to take advice from the OT. To me, this site is strictly for entertainment purposes only...especially when I'm bored and not doing anything else.

I would throw in that sugar does have some addictive-like traits as it affects dopamine levels and as such causes cravings in some people.

now, addictive behavior is that. behavior. whether it over eating, cocaine, gambling, etc.

But so does bacon. It’s not that sugar is addicting but we may be biologically programmed to crave nutrients, flavors, whatever you want to call them, that are rare in a hunter gatherer diet but yet are nutritious to us.

If you read alll of my other posts minus the one on sugar... I feel we would be on the same page.

My work, without going into detail, focuses on kids. Yours seems to focus on adults. I never stated that sugar being addictive is an excuse for adults on why they are obese. You need to let that go...

I DO think processed foods and sugary drinks introduced to toddlers and is part of their daily lives, gives them a huge disadvantage in life. A 1.5 yr old should not be drinking a Sprite, yet I sadly see it all the time. I think for kids... sugar is addictive. And that's not just my opinion, there is science behind that.

It is my uneducated opinion that people try to use low sugar or carb diets as a boogeyman in order to avoid eating less/cutting calories

Agree. Went to the beach three weeks ago. Made me feel good about myself at 47, because of all the fat arse 25-35 year olds. Guys with guts hanging over with no shame. The nasty fat women in bikinis with big nasty thigh and calf tats. I’m talking big giant tats. I’d say about 90% of the women from 25-40 had at least one nasty arse tat. Fricking skanky millennials.

Eating bacon releases dopamine on a similar magnitude of heroin.

I’m all about getting me some dopamine released.
