I've thought about this a lot... oddly.

If my spouse died, or worse a child... I don't know if I would be ready to face everyone just a few days later? And then if we are doing a funeral only days after, is that to make everyone else feel better?

For me personally, I would rather a celebration of life and time spent remembering the person - so weeks later almost feels smarter. In my theoretical death cremation is happening not a burial, so in that sense we have more time to plan accordingly.

But to the OP - I see no issue with more length between death and funeral.

In the nicest way possible - perhaps you stayed in a cheaper hotel, that is next to public beaches. The places I stay in Cabo are private beach access only - however I don't even go to Cabo for a beach experience. Take a boat out, sure. But I wouldn't even consider Cabo a very beach-forward destination. The sand is coarse, the sea is rough. Especially, again, for a 3 year old.

I've also been peddled to on the beach in Greece. Costa Rica. USVI. I didn't feel unsafe... that does not mean the place is 3rd world or dangerous, it is part of the culture in those tourist areas.

The few reasons you gave to not visit Cabo I simply don't agree with. It is not, IMO, a big enough argument to never go to Cabo. Mexico for sure cares about the Cartel and others not affecting their tourism, so yes I think generally you are safe going as an American and being smart with having drivers, staying in nice resorts and not walking down dark alleys at night.

I bring up BR and Nola as comparison because if I used your reasons... I couldn't visit or bring my kids anywhere I currently do. Live a little my man.

As a somewhat frequent visitor to Cabo with kids - we've always had a great experience. We've also done Puerto Vallarta area and enjoyed it. Every time we get out and do things in town - shopping, excursions, dinners. We have never had an issue, we simply are aware of our surroundings and act accordingly.

Just pick a nice/high end resort and enjoy the pools, good food, good music.

Yes I would hope 95% of the time its immature boys/girls and stuff we can look back on now and laugh at ourselves over. The ones dragging girls by their hair down a street may fall into the 5% psycho and likely to land in prison category.

My best friend in high school dated this little rich guy for a few months. She broke up with him and he stalked her for weeks after, begging to get her back. Would park outside her house every other night.

One night he showed up with about 100 dozen red roses all over her lawn (her parents lawn, being she was in high school). The next week he showed up and convinced her to come talk to him outside. It escalated and she ran away, he caught her and dragged her by her hair back to his car. Ended with cops.

I could tell many crazy, sad & scary stories from high school. And this was a catholic/private school. The biggest assholes were the ones with rich parents.
