You’re right. I’m in Williamson county and have welcomed some very right leaning folks with open arms from CA, MI, OR, and NV. And yeah, they’re all paying cash and upwards of 40% over asking price

Most of the west coasters I've encountered here in Middle TN are on the right side of the political spectrum. Davidson and Shelby are the only blue counties, and things are gerrymandered to keep it that way.

And the economy is only going to get stronger. Tennessee is way better off than most of its southern counterparts.

We've met a ton of them (as many from IL as from CA), more are conservative than you would think. Definitely some cans of mixed nuts too.

This place is a nightmare and it isn't getting any better. Sadly, there are tons of people forced to leave because it's just getting too expensive. I walk by a few homes that are around 1400 sq/ft selling for $400k. THE frick?

Somehow, these hipster 20 year olds are comfortably living in these houses walking their dogs and jogging all day everyday.

We're extremely far from Tennessee being a blue state. It went 60-37 for Trump. North Carolina, Georgia (already basically happened), and Texas are MUCH more vulnerable southern states.

i never understand why these people leave their 'utopia' just to go to another nice area and ruin it by doing the same things that caused them to flee their previous home.

But it will be different this time....

do you disagree the last decent mayor was bredesen?

eventually we keep electing school teachers who have sex with their security guard in cemeteries and the whole shebang is going to go downhill in no time flat.

Bredesen was a Democrat but not the "insane" democrat like they all are now but he was the last good mayor Nashville had. He was pro-business and I give him props for the development happening now.

Its been a constant clown-show since him and amateur hour with nothing but morons in charge of the city. We're in a race now to elect the biggest morons on the planet for mayor with cities like chicago and...new orleans.

You have to understand the mindset of people in "coastal" tech. They're, for the most part, virtue signalers of the highest order. They're all in on movements like blm, yet they have no black people that live in their yuppy neighborhoods. They claim the government should be taxing the rich and starting more government programs yet they flee the state in favor of places with lower taxes.

They love the idea of their ideas, but think it's someone's else's responsibility to rectify. I have a sibling in tech in the bay area and couldn't be any more of a stereotype.

I'm just musing out loud here and not really looking for a reply but I often wonder if enough people are leaving blue states to turn red states blue, shouldn't the states they left from start trending red?

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. In fact, it works the opposite way. The ones with the means to leave haul arse. The only ones that stay are the political/social/financial elite and the serf class that blindly keeps the elites in power by being scared into submission.

Ah…the typical Louisiana mentality.

That is the Soros et al plan.
Move registered dems to red states and turn them blue.

People keep saying the R's are going to take over in 2022, but I'm almost positive that they're going to get trucked, almost certainly in key battleground states.

The left is going to have a complete monopoly of federal power for the foreseeable future and republicans are just going to sit in the corner and cry.

My entire family is from middle TN (Murfreesboro). The place is unrecognizable from what it was when I left in 2008. I concur with your conclusions.

Eh, it just depends on how you look at it. Bredesen brought Nashville up to date for what a city it's size should have been. Boner was intent on keeping Nashville behind, by Bredesen took a few leaps and helped us catch up. He did the arena, got the Preds and Titans, and did a decent job at supporting infrastructure in the county.

Purcell didn't do a whole lot. Dean is what transformed Nashville, for better or worse. He definitely did it at a financial cost that we are only starting to see. He made Nashville into New Nashville. I guess it just depends on how you view that as to how you view him as a good mayor.

The last three mayors have been absolute train wrecks.
