I only go to 3 or 4 days or nights of parading, but still enjoy it. I only go if the weather is nice, it is not mega crowded (no Endymion for me), and I have a base to hang near the route. Yesterday and last night were perfect on St Charles in Garden District and LGD. Great weather, crowds good but not too big, people friendly and having a good time. Met some new people. Saw a buddy riding and replenished the household Mardi Gras cup supply. Had dinner at John's Steakhouse in middle of the parades then watched a bit more and home by 9pm. Just perfect.

I have up my LSU season tickets because I got tied of it taking 5 hours to get home after the game. When I lived in Baton Rouge it wasn't an issue.
Tiger stadium parking only gets worse.

The rural Mardi Gras festivals are fun. Good food, good music. Much less hassle.

I've never been a fan of lining up so I can catch a bunch of cheap beads off a float.

There is a lot a truth in that. It's like every one here watched Animal House and said "no, we can go through life drunk and stupid" and proceded to try and prove it

I was over Mardi Gras by about the time I turned 10

It was awesome as a little kid up in a ladder. But I’ll never go to another parade for the rest of my life.

When you stop drinking it's like the whole damned thing becomes pointless littering. I'm not shitting on anyone elses fun, but nothing of it really appeals to me anymore aside from King Cake.

Big reason why we got rid of them as well. I live in BR, but the neighborhood I live in gets screwed from contraflow, so I sit in stopped traffic for a solid hour or more just to get home 2 miles from LSU.

We would occasionally go out after the game to wait out traffic, but going to a packed bar and not really being able to drink out of fear of DUI sucked too.

Our interest in watching games has coincidentally waned anyway, but it's pretty damn nice to watch from the comfort of your living room with your own bathroom and better food.

Once you do the math on ticket prices and realize what you could be doing with your Saturdays, and still get home in time to catch the game, it just wasn't worth it. You can have a fun day doing other stuff, sit down for a nice early dinner at Ruth's, and be home for 7pm to watch in your pajamas.. all for less than those 4 tickets/TAF/beer/stadium food were per game.

I think we've been to one or two LSU games in the past 10 years. It's just not worth half of my weekend anymore. I'd much rather watch at home and maybe smoke a brisket or grill.

I quit going when my kids grew up. Now I have grandsons to take so we went to a parade yesterday.

I don't care all that much about parades in general, but all the festivities/traditions that we do every year makes it great.
In the past two nights I've attended three house parties with neighbors and ran into tons of friends/neighbors out on the parade route and enjoyed it all.

My kids aren't into the parades that much, but seeing other family kids and such out throwing footballs/frisbrees before the parades and all of the excitement that in general all of this brings.

Same. I’ve got no use for it. A bunch of walking to wait for some plastic beads among the stench of piss and stale beer, then coming back to your car broken into or stolen?

I’ll pass

I hate Mardi Gras now. It’s nothing more than a hassle. I’ve outgrown it. Nothing fun about standing in the cold waiting for Chinese trinkets.

I haven't been in several years and don't miss it. I'm not from New Orleans and just don't get the kick out of it that the locals do.

It was infinitely more fun when parades were spread out all over the city and different parishes and areas.

I’m not interested in all the parades this year. I may only just go se detat

But they literally had multiple parades in multiple parishes last night.

I usually go out of town during Mardi Gras. Standing in a mob of drunken people in an effort to catch cheap plastic beads just doesn't interest me.

When you’re a kid, mardi gras is all about the throws.
When you’re a young adult, mardi gras is about getting drunk with your friends and partying.
When you’re a parent, it’s about your kids enjoying the parade.

As an adult, Mardi Gras itself is never all that attractive. It’s all about the people you spend Mardi Gras with. Most things in life are disappointing alone and enjoyable with the right people around you.
