Never understood that about “vision insurance” prices sound too good to be true when you sign up for it, then when you use it, you get fricked in the arse w/o vasoline.

Plus most medical policies don’t cover vision unless you are under 18 which is why it is a supplemental policy for most employers.

Then you have some vision places that look for addons like America’s Best and Stanton Eyecare. They sucker you in with the eye exam and glasses for 60-80 dollars, but if you want or need any coatings, a really nice designer frame, or bifocals, get ready to spread those cheeks. The frames in the special are like winning a prize at the carnival.

Fancy frames, brah. I spent $600 on some Rx Costas, only to have them blow off my head while fishing w AlxTgr. They lasted 4 years before landing in the bottom of the Red River tho.

It’s all frame cost. You can find cheap no name frames anywhere.

I use Eyebuydirect.com and load the prescription info, pick a frame, and 8-10 days later the glasses show up. I’ve gotten progressive bifocals as low as $85 (plastic frames) and as high as $180 (just better looking frames]

The racket with glasses is ten times smaller than the hearing aid racket. Including Costco/sams type suppliers.

Having bought 12 dollar hearing aids from harbor freight to 6000 dollar hearing aids{several} over the last 10 years, the right function / price range is 300 dollars a set, 18 function, over the ear, no bluetooth, battery charged.

break/loss just buy a new set.

I normally pay around $1000, but I don’t get the crap they have at the doctors office. High end optical shops have more fashionable stuff. I gave up on Warby and Zeni. I like being able to see and having a dude that can fit them properly.

I won't lie, those Ray Ban's I tried on were pretty sweet. But for as little as I'm going to wear them, it doesn't justify an almost $400 price tag.

I went last week a pair of prescription Oakleys set me back 467 with my insurance, frames were 400 so I’d say that was a pretty good deal.
