Which drunk politician designed this ? I’m talking about that interchange when you go from I55 north to I12 west towards Denham Springs. That turn is tight and when you approach the bridge you have to hold your breath. 18 wheelers surely not slowing down to let you in .

Something needs to be done about this interchange.

I bet you won't have to go far to find someone to help with that.

State Police won’t patrol that intersection. Too dangerous

This isn't even the biggest concern. How about the 18 wheeler/ cars who have to exit while merging into you.

People take the turn too slow and don't look at the oncoming traffic until they are half way on the bridge. Have to be faster.

Tightest 4 leaf clover in the world.

Everytime I navigate, I imagine it’s like landing/taking off from air craft carrier.

To all I-12 drivers (east and west), stay in left lane when crossing this intersection. Mankind thanks you in advance.

It's a relic. There are much better interchange designs that have come out since the cloverleaf. Could you imagine the headache if they had to reconstruct that one though?

And mandatory left lane for 18 wheelers unless exiting.

Airline north onto 10W isn't much better. Both of those intersections have long since surpassed the traffic flow they were designed to met.

Ive never had any issues merging in that intersection. I would say the key to that intersection is anticipation and not having a 4 cylinder.

Plenty of open land around to convert to flyover ramps.

But would prob cost a couple hundred million

You do realize that when the interchange was designed and subsequently completed in 1969, there wasn't the traffic demands that we face now.

The lack of investment in our infrastructure is just one of the reasons Louisiana continues to rank lower nationally. Meanwhile, states like Florida, Texas, and even Mississippi seem to be investing in and improving their infrastructure around the clock.

We've had tremendous success attracting new businesses and creating economic momentum, but the real challenge is retaining those companies—and the people they bring—if our roads, utilities, public spaces, and overall quality of life doesn't keep pace. Economic development doesn't end when a company announces a new facility. Sustained investment in infrastructure is what helps ensure they choose to stay and grow here.

No, I-12 and Airline Highway has I-49 beat, and possibly I-55 too.

All cloverleafs, though. Broke arse Louisiana needs to replace all three of them with something not out of the 1950s.

State Senator Bill Wheat has been lobbying for a change/improvement to the intersection. Not sure if the request has been considered by the Legislature but Baton Rouge is aware of it.

That whole interchange design is a shite show.
Getting onto I-12 east bound from I-55 heading north (from Ponchy/Nola) is a butt clincher every time. Trees need to be cleared, and you’ve got about a 100-150 yards runway to get onto I-12 before you’re met with a bridge and metal railways/no shoulder.

Heads will probably continue to stay buried in the sand until some catastrophic wreck happens… Then after that, it will get a little attention
