Hybrid Clubs
I can't hit a 3/4 iron... would investing in a hybrid be worth it or is it just considered cheating?

re: Hybrid Clubs
I had the same problem with the 3 and 4 irons. Got a couple of hybrids, hit those a lot better. Give them a try.

You trying to advance a good ways, or get one up on the green?

I'd say just 3/4 or more your 3 wood, punch it.

re: Hybrid Clubs
Mine were just off the rack Dunlops to try from Sports Authority. So far so good after about 3 years.

re: Hybrid Clubs
My advice would be to keep practicing with your irons. If you can get those down then it will make your other clubs easier to hit IMO. But a hybrid is not cheating; the pros use them.

if i am far enough out to be hitting a 3/4iron i dont expect to stick the green... my skills are not at the level.... but i would like to get close enough to have a decent chip shot.

re: Hybrid Clubs
Try some Adams Idea hybrids. I have never hit a 3/4 iron like I hit my 23 deg. 4 iron hybrid.

You can also add higher trajectory with a hybrid.

I play with people much better then me, and I still don't see them sticking it from 190+ on a par 5. If you screwed up a par 4 that bad, I'd just take my medicine and try to hit to a full SW. I hate 50 yard shots, and anything over 175 if I'm expecting a 2 putt. Golf's tough when you put yourself in situations you don't expect to perform well in. I just try to do the things I can. I still hit the 2 iron if I have to, but if I'm going at the green I expect it to take me 3 more shots. I suck, obviously.

F That! Back it up to 90-100 and take a full swing with a 56 degree. It gives you a much easier second shot and third shot.

from 50-60yards i plan on being 15-20ft from the hole every time.

the website says the 19 hybrid replaces a 3 iron so that's what I'm going with

re: Hybrid Clubs
depending on the loft of your clubs a 19 is between a 2 iron and 3 iron. A lot of game improvement clubs 3 iron are 20*.

Much harder to get any spin on a 50-60 yard shot compared to a 90-100 yard full shot. Compound that with the ability to back down two clubs on your second shot, and the extra yards aren't really worth it. But that's just me.

That said, definitely get a hybrid. I have a 2 and a 4...but if I could go back, I'd just get a 3 and still carry my 4 Iron when I need to keep something low. It's tough to keep the hybrids under trees.

i thought about that too.

i really dont think i would need a 2iron hybrid... prob just a 3 and keep the 4iron in my bag for the punch outs
