Where is the eye expected to land / cross Florida now? I’m in Sebring, FL
Right now, the eye is supposed to go about 30 miles N of you. I am aboot 55 miles from you, as the crow flies. Good luck down there.

What is the expected time frame for landfall until it's in the Atlantic?

Just to show how much of an anomaly Milton is. This is the first category 5 on RECORD moving in a southeasterly direction.

Disney is supposed to be N of the Eye. All of those hotels are built strong and are battle tested with 'Canes.
The wife and kids are there now with my MIL and a family friend and her son. They’re supposed to leave Wednesday morning headed back. Right now it’s looking like it’s not making landfall till Wednesday night sometime but idk whether to tell her or just head on back Tuesday evening, leave Wednesday morning early as planned, or try to stay another day or so and ride it out. She did go on fill up her minivan yesterday morning though so that it’s ready to roll regardless. So we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.

Anyone ever done a hurricane at Disney? This will be our first.

I’ve been impressed with Milton’s ability to precipitate a goulash from the sheer from previous systems. If you look closely at the most recent KEZ models, the way the out walls are flowing along with the inward walls collapsing, I suspect this will move the storm a few clicks to the east. But once the vector winds permeate through the upper energy levels I think we will have to reevaluate our stance on this storm

Do you have a link to the max potential map for the Atlantic basin?
The one where it shows the lowest pressure attainable currently?
Used to have it and I don't remember who provides it.

What is also impressive is the persistent area of TS located to the northeast of Milton (refuses to be wrapped into the system - looks like helping to fuel Milton per satellite imagery)...

Hilarious.

Ron Desantis handled Helene superbly so I expect nothing less with Milton. He gets stuff done and he’ll call out FEMA.

I'd get them out of there no later than tomorrow AM.

How big of a hit is Cancun and the Yucatan going to get?

We are at Disney now. Gonna ride it out here.
Same. Everyone is downvoting but evacuating south is questionable if the storm turns and we have no rental. Disney has its own generators and the resorts are huge. Should be a cat 1 at orlando right? Worst case scenario is a tornado, but I think the resorts are big enough to shelter inside.
The prospect of finding a rental, 4 car seats and evacuating a party of 11 to be stuck on the highway seems insane. The only plane tickets are $1200/ticket with multiple stops and a 12 hour travel time. There aren’t any good options, so might as well enjoy the empty parks and calm before the storm.

sure hope the models are accurate in regards to its weakening before landfall…
It will ride a favorable environment and when it turns NE it will start to encounter shear Wednesday morning looks like

That’s true. Hurricanes that form where Helene and Milton formed generally make a bee line to Louisiana and environs.

I believe I’ll be heading to Cocoa Beach around 2pm tomorrow afternoon
