if you are on fence about leaving even if further inland, pack up your important stuff and leave now
if it's anything like Lake Charles you are looking at 6 months of hell

The issue like Katrina is that it will be a CAT 5 for sometime and build a head steam of water in front of it. The surge will be the issue.

Where the water is now.

We use to do a lot of work on the coast. One of my biggest customers was based in Foley. When Ian hit he was sending me pics of storm surge in Foley.

Be prudent and safe.

My apologies

It wasn't Ian it was Ivan

Milton is tied for 2nd at 18hrs.

Milton was a cat 1 at 1 am. Cat 5 at noon. That is 11 hours.

For those evacuating, I-75 is backed up 15 miles before the turnpike. Get off at exit 301, go east, then N on Hwy. 301. Get to Hawthorne, then try and get a room in Gainesville. Good luck.

Hopefully, this is disrupted some when it passes the Yucatan and then it goes eyewall replacement cycle. The trough interaction that will occur when the system turns NE looks pretty favorable. Also, based on sat Milton is still bombing out.

Where is the eye expected to land / cross Florida now? I haven’t been able to read except the last couple of pages. I’m in Sebring, FL. Any of you close by?

I’m sitting here in countryside, Clearwater area, debating on if I should evacuate. Technically the no evac zone, but we are about 4 miles from the water

I would. Everything is different of course, but we had properties in bay St. Louis and pass Christian. Pretty sure Katrina deposited our things further than 4 miles inland.

This might be the most impressive Satellite image of a hurricane I’ve ever seen. Perfect buzz saw look.
