Whats your plan at this point bro?
Hanging tough. The Canadian is scared, but strong. We have a 4wd Tundra, ropes, and chainsaws. I spent a lot of Irma on the lanai with it gusting over 100. I had 6-80' pines cut out of the backyard 4 months ago. The wobbling path keeps bringing it to you, then me, etc.

The centerline goes from Macdill to Orlando it looks like.
Sebring is still in the cone though.

Heading south toward Miami is the better option, especially if you're going to wait a bit.
Weston is out of harm's way, and has hotels and a bunch of restaurants.

The issue like Katrina is that it will be a CAT 5 for sometime and build a head steam of water in front of it. The surge will be the issue.
I was thinking the same but does the fact that Milton is a small compact storm have any impact on the storm surge?

Louisiana and the northern Gulf are lucky this cold front came when it did. Western Florida not so much.

I do wonder with sheer, if a storm like this is so deepened, does it provide insulation to any degree from the sheer as its dominating its environment at every wind level?
A compact storm shear and dry air will penetrate the core easier so it won’t fight it off as well as a larger sized storm but the stronger it gets the longer it takes to weaken obviously

Milton was a cat 1 at 1 am. Cat 5 at noon. That is 11 hours.
Maybe they go off of when it is initially classified as a Cat 1?
I'm going off an X repost from Eric Webb.

We are at Disney now. Gonna ride it out here.
Disney is supposed to be N of the Eye. All of those hotels are built strong and are battle tested with 'Canes.

Where is the eye expected to land / cross Florida now?
I use the KATC 3 Weather app, it overlays the current track on the weather map. You can put in your location to see where you fall in that path and the current weather around. I am not sure where it pulls the track from but I would guess its accurate.

My home is in NW Orange County. It looks like the storm will go very close to me. All I can do is hope it degrades a lot as it passes over land.
I’m on vacation in Colorado right now. I’m flying home tomorrow to get the house prepped. Wish I could just stay and let the storm do whatever it intends to do. Collect an insurance check and walk away. I’m tired of this crap. It’s almost paid off.

I have Fox Weather on and they're talking about this.
Cat 1 at 5 am, cat 5 at 11 am
Comparing it to Wilma

Just in case you missed it LINK
A FEMA disaster preparedness meeting about 'focusing efforts on LGBTQIA+' victims has resurfaced following the agency's response to Hurricane Helene.
In a virtual meeting from March 2023, FEMA Emergency Management Specialist Tyler Atkins alarmingly said the agency was prioritizing LGBTQ people because they are 'already disadvantaged.'
'They already have their own things to deal with. So you add a disaster on top of that, it’s just compounding on itself,' Atkins, who uses he/they pronouns, told the panel.
