What does your Catfish Model say about a cold front kicking these 90 degree days out for good?

Looks like a cold spell mid next week before another high pressure moves in

Levi's vid said that shear from West to East may not damage the storm as much as previously thought because it( the wind shear) is heading to the north over Texas instead of staying put.

haven't had a chance to watch, does that mean possible stronger at landfalll than originally projected?

Great

So does anyone else on the OT have a hard-headed family member (son) in Sarasota that thinks they are going to ride this storm out two miles from the beach?

I am beside myself right now….

My friend is in Sarasota and he's staying.

I don't think he understands what the aftermath of this is going to look like.

Do whatever you can to get him to leave.

Go to Destin or Miami. You can always drive back a couple days later.

Could possibly keep it at Cat 4 status at landfall.

Looks like all the models have it headed right at Tampa in some form or fashion.

I’m not that familiar with the Tampa area. What kind of impact is expected if it hits them?

If you didnt see the Milton part in the headline you'd think that segment was still from Helene.

Been a hell of an ending to hurricane season.

Well that’s not good news.

On a side note…… I’m absolutely floored that a state like Florida doesn’t have a traffic contra-flow plan for hurricane evacuation purposes. You are either going north or south while evacuating the peninsula, surely someone would have thought about a better way to handle traffic

There isn’t a major city more prone to surge than Tampa. If the surge forecast of up to 15 feet verifies it will be unlike anything we’ve seen before. Utterly catastrophic.

We have in-laws (extended) in Punta Gorda who will not leave. Both live on the water and flooded during Helene. We’ve shared the projected surge maps with them and really hope they leave, but we can’t force them to take our advice. I am praying they survive.

Catastrophic. Depending on how far north the landfall is, the storm surge could amplify and push into Tampa Bay, causing even more significant flooding.

1. Keep trying to talk some sense into him.

2. Try bribing him with cocaine and hookers if he evacuates.

3. If all that fails tell him to make sure his Apple Watch is fully charged before the storm hits. It should hold charge for 3-4 days which should be enough time for cell service to be restored. Also might want to tell him to go ahead and download that app the Cajun Navy uses to communicate on the 2G and 3G network.

Winds are back up to 155 mph on the 1 PM CDT advisory. Pressure down to 923mb. Milton is on the edge of becoming a Cat 5 again.
