Let me know what you come up with. I'm trying to figure out how to break it to the wife how much I just spent (this year) on my piece of shite car that I am so far into that I feel it would be wrong to get out now but I am probably wrong.

I would not mention it unless you are fairly certain she will notice.

TBH she is going to be pissed either way and you are going to lose her trust once she finds out

the amount really wont matter in most cases

go for broke. if you get it back you can pretend it never happened

if you miss on it...walk around town in your white tighties like Walter White and claim insanity

How to tell my wife

She probably already knows you're a loser if you've been married any length of time, I wouldn't sweat it too much

I lost a good bit of money on sports gambling throughout the past few weeks. I tried to win back some of it last night with the super bowl. Needles to say, i'm in an even deeper hole. My wife knows i gamble on sports, but she thinks it is very minimal. Is it time to fess up and let her know what i have lost, before i dig the hole deeper and deeper? Is it time for one big bet to get myself out? Asking for a friend.

Jeezus Christ I'm glad I just like to drink and party a little bit these days. I lose maybe $100 a month on alcohol.

Do not chase money

Just pay the shite off, and joke that you lost $100 on Super Bowl. Do not ever let them know the real amount, they don't get it.

And stop gambling money away, that you don't have. Gambling should be a luxury, not a way out of debt.

I'm a huge gambling degen, and have been gambling since middle school, when 3 of us used to book bets.

It's ok to get a taste and bet a little, but chasing lost money will put you in the poor house.

Was at a Super Bowl party, and the Bookie was there. He had over 80K on the game, pretty much the only way he could lose was Chiefs and Over, some big parlays in it. But even then, he only lost like 13K. a lot of bets washed each other out. But there was a guy who was looking at losing 35K, till Chiefs made their come back.

One guy had $300 on Mahomes scoring 1st TD, at 18/1(thats what some one claimed) with him, and a 3000 parlay chiefs and over. I was looking at his betting sheet and amazed at the degen bets guys were playing thousands on. One had 3K on Heads for coin flip, came tails. One had 2K on how many kick offs would be returned. o/u was 5 1/2, never checkd to see if it hit.

I know guys who would chase, and end up owing tens of thousands, and lost everything, trying to pay it back.

The mental gymnastics of sports betting (all gambling) drove me insane. Checking my phone tirelessly, betting on games from 11 til 1am, and the forever roller coaster of money swings.

I suggest you do your best to step away for as long as you can. Manage your debt and keep it to yourself. IF you cannot stop on your own, tell your wife/family you need help.

The inconvenient truth is that you will never truly win unless you are either a tout or have the self-discipline to bet within your means. Both are rare.

Just keep doubling your bet until you break even.

Everyone knows this is how you get back to where you need to be!
