$1400 a month for a 3 year old
Posted on 2/5/25 at 4:36 pm to cbree88
Uptown Dallas - $1,800/mo. + random fees/expenses for one 2 y/o...and then another couple hundred every few months for added on soccer and dance classes. We're going to have a real discussion about whether hiring a full-time nanny is the better option if/when we have a second kid.

We pay around $1500 for a 4 year old and 2 year old. I’m in Prairieville. I think it’s just under $200 a week per kid. Marginal discount as they move from an infant to a toddler.

Damn daycare is cheap in Louisiana.
We are looking at 7k a month for an infant and a toddler in daycare together if things go as planned.

$2500/month for two little kids.
$1800/month for my two older kids in cat-lick schools.
Help me, I’m poor but I’ll get a break when one goes to catholic school with his siblings this fall. And allegedly my older two will go for free because of Sarah Huckabee’s Learn’s Act. We shall see but if that happens I will be putting all that money away!

I hope your wife is making 200k+ or otherwise this isn’t likely worth it.

That what my daughter and son and law did. She works part time now and they work opposite shifts, but they want to raise their new baby. It is a sacrifice in several ways, but so worth it. I did suggest at age 3 to start part-time day care for socialization and learning. We shall see.

Seems like it would work out to turn your house into a small day care company. Take in 1-3 additional children and solve the financial strain.

Both my kids and also now, my grandson, stayed/stay in a home daycare. I've always preferred it to a center and all of us were happy with it. It becomes where the provider feels like family and they are generally with all the same kids for 3-4 years. I think my grandson's provider has maybe 6-8 kids she watches. They aren't all full time where it's more like 6 at a time. Usually the way to find them is by asking all the folks you know where their kids went. It's usually a little cheaper than a day care center, but felt much more family like to me.
