How many of you had college paid for by your parents?

Thought this would be an interesting subject given how the other thread is going.
Did your parents pay for your college education? If not, did they pay for part of it?
My parents didn't pay for any of mine, or my siblings for that matter. We had to get scholarships, or find our own way to pay for it. I made the grades, and had a full ride for undergrad. Needed a loan to start grad school, but it wasn't very large. Paid the rest while working full-time, and I believe I was better off for it. I didn't screw around like so many of my friends who had parents paying for them.
I did live at home, so that helped. We will probably do the same with our kids. We will have some money saved up, but it will be their choice on how they use that money when the time comes. We don't expect our kids to go the college route either. College isn't for everyone, and the world needs skilled workers as well. I would not fault or be disappointed if my son wants to be a plumber or a construction worker. If it's what makes him happy, and he is making a living and contributing to society, so be it. Better than him going to college to get a virtually useless liberal arts degree.

Mine paid. I got a music scholarship that covered some, but they would’ve paid regardless. I was fortunate.

I had a scholarship that covered 1 year, parents paid the other 3. I paid the 1 victory lap semester.

I started off with a full scholarship. lost it after year 1 but had tops. dad picked up the bill for 3 more years of me fricking off. i still feel guilty about it to this day. I cut myself off and went to work. I'll be graduating in December finally on my own dime.

My parents helped some once I proved myself. I wasn’t a very dedicated high school student, so I went to a CC first and basically took classes I know would transfer. Made the grades and then finished up at a 4 year. Was the right track, made me serious about education.
For my kid, a lot would depend on her attitude toward education. I am saving up for her college, but if she doesn’t look like she will perform at a 4 year, I would take advantage of Tennessee’s free CC and send her there first. If she is excelling in school through high school, I would do what I could to get her in the best school we could afford as long as she is pursuing a degree worth a shite. I’m not sending her to Ivy League to learn about some dumb humanities degree.

I was on athletic scholarship, but my parents did pick up the costs of a couple of summer courses that I needed.
My wife and I paid for both of our kids' college. They both graduated and are officially off my payroll now.

My mom couldn’t pay it. I had TOPS and worked two jobs.
My grandmother paid my rent though.

I had TOPS, but my parents paid basically all expenses while I was at LSU. I wish they I still worked part time, but I know I didn’t put forth the effort I would have if it was my own dime.

I paid for my wife and my college degrees.
Between the GI Bill, working full time, and student loans which we paid back, we earned our degrees.
Young adults would value a college or vo-tech degree more if they truly paid for it themselves.
College and Vo-tech degrees should be something you earn not a right.

I had a couple of small partial scholarships and I’d work all summer to pay for all of my expenses in the fall, and then they’d handle the spring.

I was fortunate that mine helped for the first 4 years. 5th year was on me (major change). Medical school won’t be covered unfortunately

Post 9/11 and mom helped with some stuff. If you can’t get a scholarship or your parents can’t pay do 3 years of active duty and the post 9/11 is enough to get you through undergrad. 100% tuition and E5 housing in your zip code.

Had tops, parents paid the rest. Even covered fraternity dues, haha. Although by living in the house, it was cheaper than an apartment. I am doing fine. You can pay for your kids and them not be spoiled screw ups.

Scholarships and TOPS paid all of mine. Parents helped/paid living expenses though and all of my brother’s tuition fees and expenses minus TOPS.

GI bill and loans to cover the rest. Worked side jobs to pay some expenses and beer money.
