I'm 5'11 and 235. I'm always in the obese category.

yea most people underestimate their BF% by about 10% when measured by dexa/bod pod/inbody scan.
Right now I am borderline obese according to the charts. I am only 20% bf (accurate per dexa & inbody scans). I understand I am fat right now and need to lose 10%bf.
btw these charts don't really apply to hardcore lifters but in general they are not crazy off for most people including most gym guys. 15% bodyfat should be considered normal bodyfat. Anything more than you are fat, anything above about 25%bf and you are obese.

I can tell you are fat just off how insecure you are being
Posted on 8/10/18 at 10:15 am to celltech1981
I would be ashamed if I was in the normal category..

The fact that the average size is 34 should tell you what you need to know considering the average person is fat.
Well yeah, and the average height is like 5'10. 34" at 5'10 is a little different.

Why? You're waist should be in the 30-32 range.
I'd look underfed and awkward, honestly.

If you wear 34s you definitely aren't too skinny and probably have a gut.
Naaaa. In good shape, consistently work out. Still playing soccer weekly at 36.
I do shift between 190-205 regularly. That depends on my travel schedule, if I go a month of traveling every week....work outs go down, healthy eating goes down, etc.

According to chart I'm "overweight" yet with all visible abs. lol
I don't think I could ever weigh 172 now. My upper body is naturally big (people ask me if I work out). 180 is a good weight for me.
The BMI chart is for average guys with average to no muscles

It’s more fun trolling.

Ah, so it all started in the 1830's when some dude invented the concept of the ideal BMI, which this chart is based off of?
They've been playing the long game.

Sure. You probably just way underestimated your body fat % like most people do.

If that's the barometer, Mingo weighs 600lbs.

Nah, he just created a formula to match trends he was seeing. You know, because that makes sense

almost every if not every player in the NFL would be overweight and the same goes for anyone who lifts regularly.

Interesting. I wonder what accounts for that.
For example, Scruffy falls within the border between normal and overweight. There probably isn’t a large health disparity.
Once you reach the higher BMI levels, even with muscle being the primary source, the metabolic constraints are likely similar between muscular and non-muscular.
Just Scruffy’s thoughts.

Why are you obsessed with me? Is it because I'm not fat or bald and often prove your points stupid?
Eta: or have to drive for uber to make money

BMI chart should be nothing more than a quick reference guide. It is akin to looking at the S&P500 to determine if your retirement account is doing well. Will it actually tell you if your account is doing well? Absolutely not. Will it give you a good indicator of what it is probably doing? Sure.
