Or just leave until there's not a gas shortage.

i have a big lab
i have a small dog
i kept my freezer and fridge cold the entire time
leaving is expensive and difficult with animals. when my big dog dies, it'll be a little easier.

with some gas, inverters, window unit, and assuming you aren't going through the worst of the storm, staying is not a bad option.

I stored 10 and used 5 over about 2 days. I’ll definitely double that to at least 20. 4 cans is easy for me to store. I’d love a 55 gallon barrel but don’t have a way to move or store it. 20 can definitely get me 4-6 days. Maybe 6 if I’m ultra conservative.

But I would like to get a larger generator which means I should probably carry more fuel. I have a 1700/2000 but champion has a dual fuel that has like 4000+ watts for sale for like $600. I bought mine last year for $400 so I’m kicking myself for getting such a raw deal.

This. When storm blows through and I don't have power I stay with my parents 20 min away with whole home generator and plenty of room.

I ordered 10 nato jerry cans because I just got fed up with spectre cans. My last batch of jerry cans was stolen by a contractor working on my house, just don't know which one. It was less only about $220 to get 10 refurbished Jerry cans, just wish Fedex would bring them to me already. They have been sitting in Baton Rouge for a week now.

I went in with 95 gallons and that wasn’t enough. I have been scrambling for gas because I still do not have power and estimated restoration is September 17. I’m back feeding my house. When I put in a screened in porch I set it up for this. I have three A/C’s running and everything else except for my 220 circuits. I turn a bunch of stuff off every other day so I can turn my hot water heater on. Other than having just OTA for TV it is not much different than actually having power

I just bought a bunch of hefty bags, so I'm going to say 1000 gallons.

My 5 gallon lawn can.

I’m in a good spot.

I’d hate to have to know I had to feed a whole house gasoline generator.

Probably leaving for the next one. Trying to chase down gas is not very fun. Especially when you have to try to squeeze work into everything else going on.

Heh. I went the other way. Ride it out in New Orleans, wore minimal clothes, and used my camping gear. No power or generator.Ride or Die.

I am going to make sure I have enough to fill up my car 2x. My generator is natural gas.

I had around 30 stored up, went through around 90. So yeah i'll probably add to my can arsenal for the next one.

We had 13 and went through about 40. 6 days was a lot and unusual. I'm gonna store 23 next time because I have that many cans now.

Top off vehicles and have 20-30 gallons when storm is a 3+ hurricane and path looks to be over my area.
That lasts me about a week, which is enough time for the lines to subside.

Just use gas to fill vehicles over next week or two if storm doesn't cause damage.

As soon as we get in the cone, we top off all the cars, all the lawn equipment, the generator and then the 15 gallons of gas cans.

I don’t run the generator 24/7. Generator is used sparingly during the day to keep the fridge/freezer cold, and then at night to power the window unit a/c that I set up in the bedroom.

Next time, I will keep 10 more gallons on hand. Fortunately the power was restored before we ran out.

We don’t make unnecessary trips during the aftermath.
