Don't get it too early, they start it when they process it and not when your current one expires. Cost me 6 months.

Took two weeks for me this month.
Edit to add: that was with filling out a new form but sending in an expire passport as my documentation.

The Department of State received my application on 7/7/26 .. I received my Passport book in the mail on 7/14/26 .. first time application.

My renewal back in April took 3-4 weeks.
Wife had to do the expedited service back in June at the post office because she let hers expire and we have an upcoming trip at the end of the month. Had everything within 2 weeks

If you are in a real hurry, contact your Congressional office and ask for assistance. It took 5 days for me to get my son's after being told 6-8 weeks.

Filled out all the info online through some express thing, printed the documents, and set up an appointment at the post office to have my picture taken and send in everything. After that I wanna say it was only 2-3 weeks I had my passport. It took longer for them send me back my birth certificate.
