re: What Car Do You Drive?

2026 Toyota Camry XSE .. paid off (cash) .. then again, I am 56, single, zero debt, retired twice. Gets me where i need to go .. no need for too fancy.
She fell ill on 9/1/2025 .. pneumonia both lungs .. got med flight to Vanderbilt .. passed on 9/3/2025
It was 8/30/2025 .. Clemson pre-game routine, for good luck .. 5 days before I suddenly lost my wife of 34 years. Have been dry since and miss her / it terribly.
Was an E-7 in the US Navy, stationed in Charleston , SC as a nuclear instructor @ NPTU. Was at my middle sons 2-week old doctor checkup with my wife when it came on the TV in the waiting room. Remember telling my wife .. "Osama Bin Laden .. we have to go now" .. got up and left, dropped the wife and my son off at our home (5 miles from base) and took me an hour to get onto base.
Moved out of Louisiana in 1987 .. mom and my sisters are still there. Just have never heard them complain about it. They are about 17 miles southwest of Lafayette. With hurricane / flooding issues, I can see it being more than Athens, AL .. just would have never imagined THAT much more.
Baffled at how much you all are saying you pay per year for Homeowners Insurance + Property Tax ...

I own my home, 2,900 square foot living space + 3-car garage, swimming pool, backyard garage / woodworking area .. Homeowners Insurance and Property Taxes combined for me total $3,364 per year

Athens, AL

Oh .. and :geauxtigers: :spank:
They can be placed on the team, practice with the team, help the team gel with their experience .. until they actually play in a game .. no harm no foul. We are 5 days from playing our first game .. no player added now will play. There is too much to learn and no time to learn it. Bring them on, get them up to speed as best you can and let the politics / legal issues sort themselves out this week / perhaps next.
Not all 3, but my immediate thoughts based on your question was one of my father and I building a speaker box in 1985 for a couple 6x9's to go behind the bench seat of his Chevy pickup that he allowed me to drive.

Dad was doing all the cutting and screwing .. I was installing the speakers I had bought.

Tightening down one of the speakers .. the screwdriver slipped in my hand and punctured one of the 6x9's. I froze .. shocked by what had just happened.

Dad laughed .. and with his dead serious "dad" voice said .. "It's a little different when you frick your own shite up ain't it son" ..

Pissed me off at the moment, but was a valuable lesson that I never forgot ..

Miss you dad ..
The Department of State received my application on 7/7/26 .. I received my Passport book in the mail on 7/14/26 .. first time application.

It's bush league because Messi straight up did the same thing as Balogun and got no call, no card. And what's worse is now Belgium will have a man advantage the entire game.

Belgium will not have a man advantage for the game .. we just cannot play Balogun for the game.

The issue for me I think is snacking and having those cravings. That's what I can't seem to get under control.

You can't snack if you don't keep snacks in the house. My wife used to always keep snacks available .. it was too easy to see them and cave .. grabbing one here and there. Since she passed away, I simply don't buy snacks .. and since they are not there, don't see them, and don't really miss them.

She passed away on 9/3/2025 and I (6 foot tall) was just under 250 pounds. Currently sitting around 210 pushing to get under 200. Omeprazole (for heart burn) and Rosuvastatin (cholesterol) are the only things I take. Feel so much better overall .. 56 years old w/ B/P of 124/72 and resting heart rate of 68 .. probably helps that I am already double retired w/ zero debt (no stress).

Good luck to you ..
Indeed. A waste from my perspective. The wife and I got married at a little chapel in Jacksonville, FL .. $500 for both rings combined .. just us and 2 witnesses.

We were married for nearly 34 years until she passed away on 9/3/2025.

Some things simply don't need a huge ceremony or material things to thrive.

Three sons, 34, 24 and 21 .. they all took it pretty hard, but are slowly adjusting to life without their mother.

Feel blessed .. for every day.

Lost my wife of 34 years a little over 7 months ago .. eating alone is the norm here now, but should be the least of your worries.

Life can change in a heartbeat, I know firsthand .. live to love .. love to live.

It's on ESPN here .. Ole Miss vs Florida on SEC Network
No one.

Each kid got a hand-me down and I got a new one each time.

Do not have any items that require a payment, own everything, and like it that way. Will sign nothing, for me or anyone else, that requires a payment plan.

Debt free and will stay that way. If I can't pay cash, I don't get it.

I feel for you .. and can definitely relate .. my last 2 years:

Diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Lifelong friend passed away.
Mother -in-Law passed away.
Father Passed away.
Youngest sister diagnosed with lung cancer / brain cancer.
8 year old Lab passed away.
And then my wife of almost 34 years passed away 2 months ago unexpectedly. And 11/1 (tomorrow) would have been our 34th Anniversary.

The struggle is real .. thankfully have 3 sons and 1 grand baby to keep me going.
Be very careful messing with BIOS if you do not understand the processes available to you .. very important to be careful if your system isn't booting properly. Risking a new MB if it screws up during the update.
