Does it run? If not put it on fbook marketplace for $900. Take the $700 offer but contingent that they haul it off and you give a bill of sale. As is. Hopefully you have already pulled the plates and turned them in at dmv. If it runs add a few thousand $ dependent on model etc

Do they ask for any paperwork for the vehicle though?

Having donated cars in the past, I’m pretty damn sure they all require you give them the title. A friend of mine's family tried to give away his dead uncle‘s car to charity, and they refused to take it without a title. I don’t recall what they did with it, but they weren’t going to open up a probate case just to get title to an old beat up car. I think they just left it on the side of the road in the Ninth Ward somewhere and let nature take its course.

Or better yet, park it in a no parking zone where predatory towing is known to happen…let it take up space and become a headache for riverside towing.
This is fricking brilliant. I can easily think of two properties in Houston where those vultures would be right on it within an hour.

Tow it to the hood and leave it.
It will take care of itself

I called a junkyard once and they hauled it off for me. They just sell it as parts.

Thanks for recommending the lighthouse. I have been on the board for 6 years and have been pleased with what they do.

What kind of car is it? Maybe worth the hassle to get it with a bill of sale.

Yep! 1-877-Kars For Kids
I also believe some other local charities do it as well.

Won’t take it without a title. Without a clean title the car is worthless. Why would they take something of no value as a “donation” ?

I owned a 98 GMC Envoy that I gave to my son after he graduated from college, but I never transferred the title to him.
About 10 years ago he was someone out in the middle of bumfrick Oklahoma, and had an issue. He pulled over on the side of the highway, got out, and then it burst into flames. It was either a US or OK state highway.
I never found out what happened to it. I'm sure it was towed to a salvage yard, but no one ever contacted me about it. From the pictures my son took, I doubt there was much to salvage from it.
I did receive notice from the state that the tag was due for renewal a couple of times, but I just ignored those, and they stopped sending them to me.
So, technically I still own it, but I have no idea where it is. I keep thinking that one day the VIN will show up as having been involved in a crime, and I'll be blamed.

Putting it where it will get towed is a great idea. After so much time at the lot the tow company can apply to get ownership and then they sell it.
