I thought they called it the Crawford home because of the architect. And the story acts like the ginger’s Parents were the original owners.

I think it’s funny that they call it the Crawford home, named after some famous architect, but it wasn’t designed by Crawford, it was only designed like a Crawford home.
The house is fine as hell, and if they claim it needs to be fixed and preserved, why did they let the house get in such shitty condition?

It was owned by Hamilton Crawford and he developed and built almost all of the houses along College Drive and they are called Crawford Homes.

If they want to stop it the city can just not approve the 3 houses. At least the developer may reconsider if he can only put one home on the lot.

And it should be preserved but apparently they went about it wrong. Same with Doc Pennington’s house.

I’m guessing they’ll fight it at zoning meeting.

What the frick did they think was going to happen to the house when they sold it to a developer?

Kind of like the owner of the Seattle SuperSonics selling to a group out of Oklahoma City and then trying to get the same reversed years later when they want to move the team. They lost their right to have a say when they sold.

Shouldn't have sold it if they wanted to have a say in what could or couldn't be done with the property.

A true statement, but its not a relevant comparison coming from a life form with your life span.

shite has flooded social media. You’d think out of everyone who cares so much about “saving” this house, someone would be able to make the owner an offer he can’t refuse and do so.

They didn’t sell it to a developer, they sold it to a couple, thinking they were going to move in, fix it, but the buyers sold it within an hour to the developer. They basically were the developers, acting as a couple.

Well according to some, he knocked on door and told them he wanted to fix it up. I know one of the guys involved and it was always bulldoze and build 4 homes on lot. But again, if you sell it, you relinquish all rights.

I’m a big fan of MCM architecture and design. I don’t think this house or the Pennington home should have been torn down.

With that said, shame on the family for letting the house fall in disrepair.

Also if I lived in Westdale I’d be pissed some developer was trying to squeeze 3/4 houses there.

Are you talking about the square white brick house on the corner, looks like a Baton Rouge sewer lift station? That thing is fricking ugly.

BR Business Report on it

The guy went in and lied to an old couple. Probably nothing much can be done regarding the sale but they can certainly shame him. And that street doesn’t need 4 houses on one lot so if they can limit him to one he might be inclined to sell.

And it would not cost $500k to remodel. Half that will put that house back in pristine condition with updates. That was another lie he told.

Still don’t give a frick.

You want a say in what happens to it? You better own it.

Them selling, regardless of to whom, means they don’t have a stake in this anymore.

That house is a fricking eyesore. It's definitely the house with the trash neighbors on that block. It's just down the street from Webb Park.

Developers said they’d sell it for 850k. I don’t think anyone has stepped up. I will raise hell about them trying to subdivide the lot.

They are an old couple and the husband got sick several years ago. I know many older people who just aren’t capable of taking care of their homes and my own parents needed some work when they died. Just how it is. Plus many are on fixed incomes and can’t afford it.
